Agreed, Grabu is a dirty player that constantly flops.
I think it's stretching it to say it's the best rivalry in the NBL.

Yeah but why make such a big deal about it, as Chopper would say "whinge whinge whinge fucking whinge".
The Perth/Breakers rivalry has produced a couple of fiery/physical games this season that have come down to the wire but all the coaches & players have kept it professional in interviews but the Reefton Kid Phill Jones did cop a suspension for lashing out at Shaun Redage off the ball (nice "little" punch Phill).
I suppose all Homicides comments will do is fire up both teams and help ticket sales which is not going to be a bad thing for the fans or the league.
They make a big deal out of it to make a big deal out of it.
Think they'd get a news report saying home much the Crocs get along with the Taipans and how JR and Catt are old mates and ex team mates.
NBL needs more of this, more rivalries, more personalities getting on tv bagging the other teams. That's how they get TV attention and how the non-die hard fans will find out the NBL is even on.

As far as the Cairns v Townsville rivalry goes... it is VERY hard to explain it if you aren't from Cairns or Townsville.
It goes way beyond basketball, we are 400km apart, we HATE each other, we both call ourselves the capital of NQ, the mayors of each city throw barbs at each other in the media almost weekly, to the point that each have taken ads out in each others papers to show which city is better.
and by the way, TOWNSVILLE IS :)
The main reason I'm inclined to agree with you DJrod is that I've been to Cairns and it was an absolute shit-heap, so Townsville must be better.
Pitty this rivalry won't be around next year hey DJrod.

3 players sent off - Crosswhite was first 1 min 36 secs into the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vale and Ellis got tangled up after Vale tok it to the basket and was fouled by Ellis. Both teams got together anf the wrestle ended up in a corporate box!
We flogged them too by the way 31 points - JR had 21 in the 1st Q.
The Croc dressed up in a grim reaper outfit and stood behind the Taipans bench - Mee & Grabau weren't real happy about it :)

Bit classless, I agree. Most of the big money players are gone and the side is largely left with benchies and a replacement coach copping a pretty tactless taunt about their employee going under.

Ps. Maybe next time don't do the "Cairns Taipans funeral" or the Grim reaper skit, you never know when your time is up.. Cairns wasn't the one to enter "basketball heaven"..
