16's wont be named this weekend only the 18's as the 16's are playing in July.
Will be interesting to see how the reserves react after the team is announced following the ultimatum that your out of SASI if you don't remain a reserve.
With U 18 Nationals now being played in April, some thought needs to go into retaining players especially girls because its a long time to stay focussed on sasi for second year 18's who missed out on state.
With only 8 or 9 second year 18 girls at sasi why would they stay on if they missed selection? Maybe N G needs to organise an end of sasi interstate trip as some type of incentive especially since he hasn't run a girls US trip for yonks.

Why hasn't he run a girls trip?
Because he just don't care.

Being in SASI just waste of time, effort and self esteem. If you go to try outs and your ability allows to to stay in the mix and get select then good on you and your club coaches for putting in the effort to get you there without the SASI program.
How many kids have wasted all that time and effort for nothing ! They end up burnt out,low self esteem and not enjoying what was once there passion...
Brad Newley, Luke Scheschher, Joe Ingles, Jacob Holmes, Oscar Forman etc. etc.
Before you start I'm not a SASI coach and I dont even coach anymore for that matter. I have been involved with SASI in hte past and know many that have been through the program.
Burn out is a problem with SASI athletes. Burn out is a problem with anyone at the elite level or striving to be elite be it in business, sport, education etc. The fact is some respond well to burnout and some drop away. Always has been the case and always will be.
In terms of SASI athletes having low self esteem whilst they have been involved or afterwards. This is a joke of statement. Those involved in the program and that graduate from the program are quite the opposite to having low self esteem. Some dont always like all parts of their SASI experience but they certainly dont have low self esteem. Like anyone that is driven to succeed they tend to have quite an opinion of themselves and tend to look down on those that dont have the same drive.
SASI is run just like any other elite sport coaching program and the issues involved are not specific to basketball.
Mark, how would you be looked upon?
SASI is not an elite program , it is a program to find elite athletes. Therefore many are cut in the process of that discovery. However it could function a whole lot more successfully by valuing the players that attend and perhaps maintaining them through the whole program.
Not running graduating tours is an example of undervaluing athletes and lowering their self esteem.
Why do you need incentive to get better ??? Just having access to good coaching, and the program surley is enough.
646, good coaching and the program isn't enough because it leads nowhere for most of the graduates. The drop rate at 18 level is enormous so where's the upside for girls in particular as Aunt Nellie can and does play CABL along with every other large arse woman on the planet.
