Graham wins WNBL Rookie of the Year

Sarah Graham of the Logan Thunder has won WNBL Rookie of the Year. She's the first non-AIS winner in seven or so years.

Logan Thunder guard Sarah Graham has been named the 2008/09 Betty Watson Rookie of the Year in the Australian Defence Force Women's National Basketball League.

The 163cm pocket rocket scored 283 points at a team high 12.9 points per game, shooting 41.6 per cent from the field. She was also precise from 3-point range, knocking down 41-of-108 attempts at 38 per cent.

Graham averaged career high numbers in points (12.9), rebounds (3.3) and assists (2.2) per game.

Sharing point guard duties with veteran Kristen Veal, Graham started the season with a career-best 21 points to lead all scorers against the Perth Lynx in Round 1 before setting a new bench mark of 24 points against Sydney Uni in Round 4.

Watched her a number of times. Got handles , drive, quick pull-up...fun to watch. Certainly not a product of the mainstream women's basketball system in this country.

What a bizarre press release, of course she averaged career high numbers, she's a rookie.
