Dragons v Tigers G4 - Bash'em Time

This from Dainel Eade, quite amusing.

The Tigers have breathed a sigh of relief with centre Chris Anstey receiving a suspended sentence from the NBL tribunal after tribunal chairman Ken Madsen altered the charge from, "Striking with an elbow" to "Striking with a shoulder."

But the Tigers had the wheels in motion to take the NBL to court if Anstey had've been suspended and force a delay until after the series, allowing Anstey to suit up if he'd been wiped out.

Speaking before a circus of media, Tigers owner Seamus McPeake was holding back no punches as he laid out what would've happened if Anstey copped a suspension, "We would have been in court this (Tuesday) morning with the lawyers to have an order put in place for the hearing to be heard after the finals series."

But McPeake wasn't done with, ordering his team to combat the Dragons with their own medicine, "Our players will go out slapping and banging because you don't get called for the fouls, you might as well go slap and bang.

"That's what they do and they don't get called for the fouls so we might as well go and do the same thing and set the tone for the game."

Link to interview with Anstey on the incident, what the hell has he been smoking! Everyone who has seen the incident agrees with him? I guess if you ask the coach, the owner and your team mates, you would probably get that response.... sounds like it will be a firey game tonight, just hope the refs dont go over the top and call every little touch.

Herald-Sun in Melbourne has run a few stories today and the Tiger's have provided plenty of curry in each of them...about the Referees, the League and the Dragons.

Should be a heated Cage tonight!

Anstey called the guy he hit "a flopper". Looking at the reply, the guy did start to move before behing hit, but you can hardly blame him!

Having said that, I really smell publicity. Even the 6pm News picked up on this, referring to a struggling sport getting in limelight. I think they're all fueling the fire, trying to get basketball back in public eye. Wrong way I feel.

NRL is in limelight at the moment, for start players alleged assault on 17yo girl. Having Anstey as the basketball "tough guy" will not work.

Well its doing a good job in Melbourne over the past week...

If they get a sell-out crowd at the Cage tonight following 8500 at Hisense in the last game...maybe it was worth it! If Tigers get up tonight, expect to see a crowd of 10k for game 5.

Anything relating to on-court action for the NBL is good publicity. the only publicity they had all season was of the NBL's demise...so this is good.

Wouldn't you be bracing/retreating after just been hit with a moving screen and than getting a little retaliation push back in Carter knew he had baited Anstey and it was coming straight back at him. Well played in my book by Carter.

The Ref's should have just called that first one, there is no way that was a legal screen. But enough of the past bring on Game 4 and HOPEFULLY the Tigers can send this one to game 5 cause it would be a shame for it to all end in front of a measley 3,500...

Fark the Tigers. Seriously. They've been an utter disgrace to the league for years now. The thought of the Dragons winning it all in the Tigers pathetic little gym is just too good.
