Classics: Was the long weekend worth it?

just wondering if the weekend was worth it all ?

did not go myself - but it looks like quite a few individual players / teams bailed - nunawading and classics.

did it affect results mush?

Was an absolute waste, and a joke of a weekend. The two teams that played off for gold in the 16 boys final only had to play 4 games for the weekend - but the two teams in the bronze medal game had to play 6! Was poorly organized, it would have been easy to bring up some teams from Nunawading to at least make it fair.

The Knox team that won 16's were clearly the best team there, the outcome would not have changed whether they had playeed 6 or 16 games!

I do agree with that, the Knox group were definately the best there and did deserve to win it. Just saying it also makes a huge difference when they're fresh, and playing teams that have played the full amount of games.

Noticed a lot of teams missed the tournament and some of the better players in 18's were also missing (was this because of AIS).

Properly no effect on the result but would have detracted from the class of the tournament.

Couple of the better 18s were in China for the Nike camp.

Knox is not the best tean there,a lot of teams are easilt on a par with Knox. They won because they had less games and fresh legs. Simple as that.

Care to elaborate on who the best team is then? Knox played the same amount of games as Keilor did.

The only other team in Vic to at least match it with Knox this season was Diamond Valley, and going off their results they wern't even around the mark. Knox were deserving winners, irrespective of how many games they played.

Had a very strange feel to it this year, guess it was not having as many teams, and spare courts around all over. Bit of an empty vibe and a lack of energy around the place. Is probably the worst one i've been to anyway.

its like the saying goes,CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.
alot of city clubs and their parents didnt want country kids coming in and taking over their kids court time.now the majority of that u16 mavs girls team is country..... careful what you wish for metro.

Mav's are a good team but not as dominant as past sturt teams were in the same age group. Probably best to wait until the second year of 18's before blowing too many trumpets. Yes they built a country district team and that is probably a good enough reason to bring in zoning. Will SAC bring home gold in the 16's at the Nationals this year? I don't think so.
Mav's 14's have been doing well in the local district comp proving too tall for most in the comp but were disappointing at the classics where height alone wasn't good enough.
Overall the weekend was hardly worth the effort with not several results not posted further illustrating the vics couldn't run a chook raffle successfully.

typical response from yet another upset metro parent who's daughter is obviously playing second rank to a much talented country kid.no one said u16 SAC girls would bring home the gold medal at nationals, but look what happens when you start your so called zoning.GONE are the days of metro being 50 point better sides.

Of course the weekend was worth it. Regardless of results the kids that did go are playing generally much tougher opposition and come back better players for it.

Chillin,
it's not unusual for little boys like you to experience non descending genitalia and with luck something worthwhile may appear in the near future.
Country basketball is alive and well and under the past AIS coach enjoyed it's best success. Some hope for a more balanced view of talent, post his demise.
It's ridiculous in the extreme to think women's basketball doesn't enjoy a huge following given its success at all levels in Australia.
On the other hand male basketball here is in chaos with the on again, off again NBL and with its' standing in the world rankings on the slide. It attracts second tier athletes after the more talented chase more lucrative sports.
Stay out of the cold it wont help your problem!

James (#239228) you absolute country tool!

The majority of metro parents have not got a problem with country kids coming into their team.

What most metro parents have got a problem with is the small minority of country kids with parents that think their kids are so talented that they don't see the need for their kids to train with their "team". I'm not talking about mid week trainings, but country players that don't attend weekend trainings, even when they have been moved just to fit in with one country family. You certainly have a one or two in above mentioned team that fit the bill.
