Aron Baynes signs with Lieutuvos Rytas

Whilst Baynes still has his NBA dream well within his sights, he has signed a lucrative 2 year deal with European powerhouse Lieutuvos Rytas, who play in the prestigious Euroleague competition and are current 2009 Eurocup champions. (Previously Matt Nielsen has played at this club).

Baynes has noted he has a get-out clause should he receive a guaranteed NBA contract.

The rugged Aussie centre has just completed his senior year at Washington State, and is currently undertaking NBA workouts with the aim of getting drafted in this year's draft.

Still panning actually, he hasnt even set foot in Lithuania. This is a club that expects success, so Aron best be in form.

From watching him in college, I would have thought he still had a bit of work to do to be an import at a top Euro club. Does he have a Euro passport?

Any half-decent starting centre in college ball has every chance of success in Europe. I wish him al the best.
David Andersen was only just beginning to show his potential in the NBL as a youngster before he left for Europe and look at how well he has done!
