Phill Jones to play on, but where?

Just read an article that talked about last season's Sixth Man of the Year, Phill Jones, playing on in the NBL, but with an Australian team.

Any guesses as to where?

NZ obviously have Penney and Abercrombie/Webster. Perth will have an import and Weigh. You'd assume Adelaide will keep Hill and people keep mentioning Ng too. Melbourne would probably want to keep Barlow and maybe Corletto. Gold Coast will have Harvey and Demos/Goulding. Last thing Townsville needs is yet another SG/SF.

That leaves Cairns and Wollongong and my current guess is the Hawks. What's your guess?

What's his player points rating? Like a 7 or 8?

Cos I think he could help a lot of teams cos he's a very, very good three point shooter, but the problem is he does little else, so I'm not sure if many teams would want to spend 7 or 8 points on a 3-pt specialist?

Well in a league where there will be mimimal bigs to choose from, why wouldnt you take a savvy veteran that can stroooooooooke it. From the 36ers point of view, the Dome's rings are very much prone for natural shooters too, nice soft rims.

My guess is Wollongong, because they have the requisite number of ls.

Has to be a club that feels they are on the cusp of a championship as he is getting longer in the tooth.

He cannot defend a chair but can drop bomb's in anyone's face. He is worthy of a one-year deal.

Cortez Groves....hahaha With some of these horrible excuses for imports that keep getting gigs, its as though every scout in Australia, have no idea that there is a whole lot more players worldwide that play this game for a career. And wait for it, the great thing is these could be imports havent been scouted here yet. They to can produce as Groves did for example....when he was classified as a decent import, in his stint as the 'Gong! Before he became a cancer at the dragons, partly du to his inability to change his game, as teams learnt how to guard him.

Hong Kong agree with you there- many players seem to keep getting recycled.
Having said that, with players being offered a one year contract and not really knowing how things will work out for them after that (would they get signed again/ have to look for another contract with another team here/ consider relocating the family, etc) it's a bit more challenging to convince an import to come out for the first time where they may not know where they stand at the end of the season.
For the imports that have played here, it might be an easier choice and somewhat know what to expect?
I'm just theorizing here...

Phill Jones can flatout play. He wasn't 6th man of the year cos he makes mean hot chocolate. Him and Redhage have a few on court issues they may need to work through before they can be team mates @ Perth assuming Perth resigns Redage and want Jones lol.
