D-League Salaries

Did some research into this. the average d-league player earns 15grand a year. couldnt believe it. they are top class players. no wonder most head to europe, nbl etc.

google it for more info.

Thoughts on the issue?

Why would they need to increase it? The demand for a spot would be high in players wanting to stay under the noses of NBA scouts and coaches.

yes thats true, but 15grand isnt enough to live on per year. they would need to get another job etc also. why not give them around the same as nbl players so they are full time and become better ballers.

They were paid nothing in high school and college and managed to become "better ballers."

That's why, the main people in the D-League with a shot to make the NBA are the ones who were drafted second round, given a contract of $650k/ year for one or two years, and sent to the D-League cause they aren't ready.

The rest of the guys are just busting their asses hoping to get noticed, while living cheap at a young age. Wouldn't be too different from being a poorly paid student with a great lifestyle. Heaps of guys would happily do that for $15-20k a year (don't forget that much buys you a lot more in the US).

Hayden sounds like a newcomer to the sport of basketball with these stupid topics.
How about a "D Grade topic" and a "D Grade logic in his response to answers to his lame questions"

even if it is 15k-20k that is pretty much for only working for half the year. So thats pretty much 30k-40k equivalent and I imagine their accommodation plus car cost and other benefits would be paid for. So I doubt they would have to work a second job. That is all assumptions though.

i think the average d-league salary (funded by the nba) should be US$120,000.

This would ensure the players future financially.

A top basketball player cant perform at his peak having another job also.

Agree?

Am quite new to some of these nbasketball concepts...what exactly is a D- league player or more significantly, what is the D-league?

Can i also ask how much salary does the average ABL player earn? Or are they rewarded with other incentatives? Just wondering..

The D-League sits under the NBA and is a place for teams to stash players and keep an eye on them. D-League site

Assuming you mean the ABL here in South Australia - ABL player incentives might range from nothing up to five figures for the lucky few. The majority might not get much at all.
