JR Smith to serve 30 days in prison

MILLSTONE, N.J. (AP)A judge sentenced Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith(notes) to 90 days in jail Tuesday night for causing an auto accident that killed his friend, though Smith will likely end up serving only 30.

Municipal Judge Debra J. Gelson suspended 60 days of the sentence providing Smith performs 500 hours of community service consisting of visiting sick children at hospitals.

Are the NBA or the Denver Nuggets expected to take any action on this or will it remain in court?

Looking at the rap sheet outlined in the article, he's lucky as hell that he's a semi-famous pro athlete... With lots of cash.

I guess it's a reflection on the NBA now. Isaiah Rider must be choking on his Lucky Charms by now - he didn't even kill anyone and was blacklisted from the NBA - but this guy is still plying his trade like nothing ever happened.

Not by any means defending JR Smith's actions, but if you read Isaiah Rider's bio (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaiah_Rider) you will understand why he was blacklisted. The guy was a loose cannon who still hasn't cleaned up his act!
