Cairns Taipans sign Skip Mills

The Skytrans Cairns Taipans announced today that they have officially agreed to terms with combo guard Julien "Skip" Mills for the 2009-10 National Basketball League season.

The 24 year-old Ball State University graduate impressed Head Coach Aaron Fearne during his 10-day trial with the club. Skip will fill the second import spot on the team after the club singed American Rich Melzer last month. Mills will play both the point and shooting guard positions.

If they stuck to their budget, they've done pretty well and put together a fairly decent team.

Qlder, just wondered if they were tempted to go $50-100k more just to sneak in a bit more strength on the roster - a competitive team might mean more ticket sales to recoup that investment. At one point, they were talking about no imports or one import and then they managed to fit in two, and Melzer is no slouch. Well done to them if they stuck to the original plan but still managed to get those players.

Jack, yeah, I believe the 36ers' Skip will still be taking that role.

Didnt they add another 50K approx to the player budget from another area? But even if that's so, they have done a great job.
