09/10 Foxtel Commentary Team

According to gaze.com.au the NBL commentary team for the 2009/10 season will be Dwayne Russell and Brian Taylor with expert comments from Andrew Gaze and Shane Heal.

Im sure I've heard Brian Taylor bagging basketball on Triple M before, but as he is my favourite footy commentator, I do very much look forward to seeing what he brings to the NBL.

Interesting - Dwayne Russell is a good footy caller and very popular. Would get a lotta people having a look and listen to it.

Russell throws in the odd basketball reference every now and again but not sure about BT. It'll be interesting to see if they know what they're talking about.

Great choice choosing Dwayne Russell, love his commentary for FoxSports in the AFL.

Should be interesting. Good commentators with passion for calling a game. Sadly, I don't have Foxtel and seeing as there still isn't games on free to air TV, the NBL will still be a non-event to me and my family. Seriously ..... the number of sports I see on FTA now and I can't see the one I love. From a frustrated fan.

Hopefully ONE HD can somehow score a 1 hour repeat game on a Sunday like channel 9 had for a couple of seasons recently.

i heard BT talking about the NBA playoffs on triple M before a footy game, he loves it, and he'd be pretty good, his better on radio though as he gets more excited.

Believe Russell has a very good knowledge of most sports, the move is good for the game.

Isaac is it time for any mention of OneHD to get a 'stupid' pic reply.

How many times does this need to be brought up before people realise the NBL and One/Ten doesn't fit.

I think it fits well enough (for the NBL), I just don't know how likely it is...

NBL needs to show it is for real, or pay a large sum of money, before One HD will show any interest.

At least a couple of years off I would think.

You never know, One may be looking for content that rates better than, Bull Riding, Stunt flying and funny cars. I thnik, with the introduction of GO and whatever 7 brings out, the market will hot up and One will look to all sports to increase ratings.

Pretty sure BT was a junior basketballer (and quite a good one) and as mentioned before, throws in the odd bit of NBA talk during his call - he spoiled one game of Finals for me when he all but said that LA won - so he should go OK.

I don't know if Russell really adds a whole lot of interest, but you'd think that BT would get a few people paying attention if he is involved. He'd probably be the most loved AND hated commentator in footy?

That is great news about BT. Clearly the best footy commentator in the country and will hopefully rub off in a basketball game.

I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure he played state when he was a kid.

Think this shows that FOX are taking the NBL a bit more seriously with some real play by play commentators. BT does liven up a broadcast so hopefully he has a bit of John Casey in him, but not so high on Shane Heal much preffered Maher when he did special comments for Boomers games.

Nutwork, none of those 'sports' you have mentioned cost ONE any production costs and their TV rights would be minimal at best. The reason ONE is filled with so many unusual sports is due to the network needing cheap, low cost fill in time.

Will there be an 'NBL Wrap'-type weekly show?
