Ladder Prediction

With the upcoming season what is everyone's predictions?

Mine is:

Breakers (too much class, amazing roster)
Blaze (looking good in a guard orientated league)
Wildcats (solid roster with no real weaknesses)
Tigers (on the decline and ageing but still will be up there)
Hawks (great young roster)
36ers (not as good as past seasons
Crocs (Will rely on homicide alot)
Taipans (too many role players for my liking)

I'm surprised people have predicted the Sixers to finish so low on the ladder! Maybe I am a biased supporter but:

* We have the equal best back court in the league. I say equal because CJ is usually injured.

* Best Power forward in the league. He seems to be better then Redhedge these days

* Best 3 point shooting team in the league.

* Burston was the starting center for the championship team last season and would be up there with the best centers in the league and can neutralise Schenscher.

* We have a very good transitionfast break team

I recently said NZ would probably be middle range but now with Pledger and improved team I have changed my mind and put them first.

Breakers
Tigers
36ers
Wildcats
Blaze
Hawks
Crocs
Taipans

Gilchrist/Groves
Groves/Ng/Herbert/Hill

i disagree with that statement then. i think groves is too much of an offensive liability these days, too inconsistent. hopefully gilchrist can be solid, but otherwise the 36ers essentially have three backup guys to play the majority of the minutes at the 2 spot. could work tho, theyll have to shoulder the load

Perth . best froncourt in the league. schenscher, redagh, rogers, cattalini and wagstaff is very big yet versatile Frontline. wagstaff is a stud and weigh will win MIP this year.

Tigers. anstey is still the best player in the league. if they get hodge and sammy mac has a good year, they'll be very good

Breakers. kirk penny and CJ will need big years. very good roster

6ers. gilly and ballinger might endup being the best -2 punch in the league.much will depend on burstons health.

Taipans. the suprise packets. dusty and meltzer are a very, vry effecient and poerfull duo.if skip lives up to the hype and boodnikoff has a good year, they'll be good

Crocs. roland robrts will improve as the year progresses. Crawford returning will bolster there bench.

Blaze. talent is lacking, but harvey and gibson are quality.

Hawks. there import is a stud, but besides saville and tredgah, there not great

Melbourne (so long as they stay healthy)
Breakers (Defense still vulnerable, tough to contain)
Perth (grind teams down, need to hit from outside)
Hawks (Saville and Tywain)
Crocs (as Rolan goes)
Taipans (Skip has to step up?)
Blaze (Both imports need to show more)
36ers (Weak defensively and no depth up front)

You'll find we are under rated.
Burston can neutralise Schesch and the like
(including Balls at training)
Herbert is better than some think.
Hill played good away games last season.
Ng's shooting.
Gilchrist feeding.
Everyone's under rating Groves.
No one under rates Ballinger, of course.

Tigers are good on paper, but were beaten by "underrated" teams several times last season. Remains to be seen if it happens again or not.

Wildcats arguably got the biggest coup of the off-season with Big Red; best to start him over Rogers considering the man has no stamina anymore. Not sure how it will go with Redhage since both are good on the boards and tended to be one of (or the) primary scorers for their respective teams last years.

Sixers can do well this season provided they stop with their 2-3 zone defence and play some perimeter D; too many 3's cost them games last year. I would prefer Ng to start over Groves.

Good on you for supporting your team. There is not a lot between all the teams and with games being so tight, fouls will be crucial. The 36ers don't seem to have cover there?

Well I guess. Take out Ballinger and doubt we'd win a close one. Burston and Gilchrist also hard to replace

King James how are the 36ers the best 3point team in the league??????
pretty sure NZ have that one well wrapped up with Penny,CJ,Oscar,Ronaldson,Abercrombie,Webster all able to shoot the 3ball and the first 3 leading the percentages.

u guys have got no idea having blaze so low.

we have equal best back court in harvey/gibson.
best young centre in league, vanderjagt.

genuine stars in vukona, cameron, goulding, ubaka, petrie

solid role players in joiner, demos.

no one will be able to match up on us.

i think team will be:

vandy/pero
petrie/joiner
vukona/goulding
harvey/demos
gibson/ubaka

ubaka covers minutes when either harves/gibbo are off, demos junk time/other. vukona and goulding share the 3 spot 65/35 approx.

petrie and joiner share 4 spot 65/35
vandy pero mix it up. i would like to see pero play a bit of pf also.

honestly i would love to see mid season releasing joiner to get a genunie no.2 big man.

playing the 3 guards on floor at once is likely to happen a bit also.

But going by the pre-season, you probably have the two worst imports in the league.

Mystro I wouldn't say well wrapped up. I would say they are slightly better however with no CJ I would say the Sixers are ahead. Here is last seasons stats

Bruton 49%
Forman 45%
Penney 38%
Ronaldson 39.6 %
Abercrombie 36.4% (Limited shots)
Webster 20% (Limited shots)

Ballinger 48.5 %
Groves 39.8 %
Gilchrist 39.1% Career college stats
NG 33.6 % (Much beter shooter then that)
Herbert 32% (Much beter shooter then that)
Holmes ?
Molitor 32% ABL stats (Possible under 23 player)

You would have to at least say the Sixers are up there!

By the way what is the injury status with CJ? When is he expected back?

Think he's just being rested. Still went up to Darwin.

Adelaide have a lot of good options, but I do think based on last season NZ had them beaten from the arc.

i rate harvey, the reason the breakers back court is the best is because they are proven players who aren't streaky, kp was MVP for good reason and CJ is the man when healthy and they will both hurt you on the scoreboard from outside or penetrating for a layup and CJ hurt a couple of teams last season whilst hobbling up and down the floor lol.

loosing Anstey has gotta hurt the Tigers chances in a big way, more pressure on the other scorers and he is a big presence inside on the defensive end.

Doesn't matter too much which team shoots 3's best. What matters is how much you give up at the other end and the 36ers give up plenty as in fact do the Breakers for that matter.

joiner is bad i admit that, but ubaka should be a quality guard coming off the bench. he was a pac ten all star in his junior year and at a solid college.

lead the team in his senior year.

i believe only 1 will last out the season so that should help us.
