Big first half by the Saints and yet they have not been able to get the score on the board.
How bad was the goal umpire on Hawkins' shot on goal that hit the post? This was kind of made up by the soft free kick against Milburn just before half time resulting in a Saints goal.
Geelong should be 3-4 goals down IMO and despite being outplayed, are well in touch.

Hear, hear. The (V)FL do an excellent job at managing the media so that there is always a story in the paper, or on channel 7.

Watched the 1997 G/F between Crows and St Kilda last night on Network 7 and the game today paralleled that one in that St Kilda got off to a slow start, got to the lead in the second and third quarters but were run over in the last.

Paralelled the 97 game in that the Saints had soooo many opportunities in the second quarter but missed them. Saints had their chances, Cats took theirs.

LC, yes the goal umpire made a mistake with the Hawkins shot, but in his defence, Hawkins booted the shit out of it from 5 metres out.....the ball wouldve travelled that fast that he wouldnt have had a chance to see the deflection

I personally think the window of opportunity is closing on the Saints again....they dont have alot of youth coming thru the ranks, King is on his last legs and there were a few others that didnt seem upto it in the Grand Final
They will make the top 4 next season, but i dont think they will make the Grand Final

I think they have one more year left in them the Saints. Whether they rise to the occasion or bomb like Hawthorn is yet to be seen.
Geelong also have at least one more year left in them too.
Adelaide are a big chance next year to challenge next year.
Collingwood could go either way - challenge or drop down a few rungs.
If the Western Bulldogs get a decent FF, then they too will challenge next year.
