SASI Invitations

With the new season upon us does SASI send out any new invitations to kids or make approaches to join the program at this time?

I would imagine that between seasons there would be some kids who would make decisions to leave the sport and SASI for other sporting/educational pursuits, perhaps realising that Basketball is not their thing or doing well at school may mean sacrificing the SASI spot and the commitment that comes with it!

Or, are invites only given out after TI camps?

more than usual may drop out of the U18's as there are no development camps in 2010 thus second year U18's are wasting their time and would be better playing seniors if good enough

Despite some clubs dominating the numbers at SASI, if you looked at the number of SASI scholarships per kids at a club, which club would be the strongest?

Jack your question has less relevance nowadays because there is precious little in the way of practical difference between a SASI full scholarship holder and an associate scholarship holder.
In most of the other sports at the institute you get a bag full of goodies like track suits and even sponsored sports stuff.SASI basketballers get diddley squat and pay for everything. That's wrong, they do get to borrow their SASI training outfit and get to see a SASI tracksuit in photographs.
Once upon a time, dear jack, the trip to America was funded but now its a lottery and cost 7 to 8 grand if you go at all and dependent on the wee fellow's whims, as the girls from the past 2 or 3 years have not gone at all. Apparently they weren't talented enough.
SASI basketball is not a joke but it is a chuckle and there is a concerted effort to keep it a closed shop.
It's no secret that Sturt girls do well at SASI and there is a strong connection with sturt SASI coaches also involved in metro state coaching staff. Forestville do well with their connection with country state coaches. Of late Sturt and Forestville have opened a branch in Mt Barker with Sturt lending it's coaches and both clubs lending players to the branch.
The coaching director at SASI is very knowledgeable about the game but the structure that has evolved is tarnished but because we are such a small insignificant sport dynasties not only arise but are heralded and scrutiny is not in basketball's vocabulary.
