Government snubs NBL

The Federal and State Government are spending $11.7 million on a facility in Sydney to house problem rugby league players. This building enables these people to obtain life skills and drug/alcohol
education. On top of that, the NSW Gov will also spend
$30 million on upgrading WIN stadium, home of the St George Dragons.

The NBL has undergone major reforms, but will not get $15 million to promote basketball. All this money could
have been spent on building basketball stadiums around Australia, instead Kevin 07 would rather bury his head in the sand.

You're being unfair. There are more problem rugby league players than NBL basketballers, so the govt is spending the money where it is needed most.

No surprise. Think about rugby's popularity compared to basketball.

ussam, your comparison is poor.

Of course the government will not give you 15 mill to promote basketball. they are investing in bricks and mortar in both of your RL examples.

they did however announce a join state / fed 15 million investment in a basketball facility in melbourne's east last year.

the sport needs a cohesive approach about independent faclity development - then it has a shot.
