Kendall out for the season; knee-recon Friday

Interesting news ahead of the 36ers-Tigers clash this weekend:

Melbourne Tigers guard Luke Kendall will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2009/10 NBL season due to a knee injury sustained at training yesterday during a routine training drill.

Kendall had scans this morning which revealed the true extent of the injury sustained to his knee. Kendall will undergo surgery for a full knee reconstruction on Friday.

Tigers Head Coach Al Westover said that it is another huge blow for the team after having an injury ravaged season so far.

"Its terrible news for Luke, it's disappointing for him and for the team. He has been working extremely hard and has been a solid performer all year, to have him go down for the rest of the season is a big loss."

“With the loss of Barlow (pre season to Spain), Anstey (currently missing for the first half of the season), Ben Knight (injured indefinitely), plus Greer, Crosswell and Worthington battling injury since the start of the season, it’s just been one of those years.”

“We would like to wish Luke all the best with the surgery and we hope he can make a full recovery.”

In better news on the injury front for the Tigers, co-captain Nathan Crosswell trained well and is likely to suit up against the Adelaide 36ers this Saturday in Adelaide. It also looks positive for star veteran Chris Anstey who is back into light training with the aim of getting back on court in the New Year.

Bugger! Hope he recovers strongly.

Whether you like the Tigers or not, you would not wish that on anybody.

Tigers troubles continue to get worse.

The Tigers have been decimated by injuries. If we can't beat them on Saturday, it says more about us than them - it should be a comfortable win.

I don't know about 'comfortable' - particularly if Burston isn't 100%.

Hodge and Worthington alone present a pretty massive danger.

That said, the Sixers ought to defend the BMC against them.

Full court press & full court pressure all game.

Crosswell underdone and returning from injury, and no Kendall. Hodge will be burdened with carrying the ball handling load.

Full court pressure all game will kill the Tigers.

I'd much rather Kendall being pressured than Hodge and Croswell. Kendall doesn't seem to cope that well bringing up the ball under pressure but it will be good to have 1 less 3 point threat.

Sad to see injury like this esp. when he is just settling into team.
Kendall gives the Tigers a little unpredictability and at times some perimeter punch. Who will take his spot inlineup?
What will Crosswell do with Hodge?
To be most effective Crosswell needs ball in hand.

I'd expect Corletto will take his place in the starting 5.

Oh No. Corletto IS LEGIT from perimeter and suffers only from lack of playing time.
This could be his chance.
If Hodge can create he will kick it out to one of the best in the business.

The Tigers have seriously been cursed this season. Whose black cat did they see while walking under a ladder on Friday the 13th?

Karma struck down Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns and the Dragons for their big spending ways. Adelaide got a mighty taste for their big spending before just surviving. Now karma has moved on to deal with the Tigers.

You gotta feel sorry for the Tigers. Anstey, Knight and Now Luke. They Really need to look at a Second Import now. Someone like Hinson would be ideal for them.

It'll be Interesting to see how they'll Respond to this.
