Marino named Round 12 Player of the Week

Adelaide Lightning's Angela Marino has earned her second Women’s National Basketball League Player of the Week accolade after a standout performance in Round 12.

Marino top-scored with 25 points and dished 10 assists to complete the double-double and lead Lightning past Perth Lynx, 96-74, in Adelaide on Saturday.

The 166cm point guard had her best shooting game of the season; she converted 69 per cent of attempts from the field and was deadly from 3-point range, nailing 5-of-6 attempts from beyond the arc.

Marino dished six of her 10 assists, went for back-to-back triples and scored nine of her 25 points in the all-important second term as Lightning stole the lead back from Perth by out-scoring the visitors 33-11 in the term to set up the win.
Suzy Batkovic-Brown was unlucky to miss out on a third Player of the Week title after leading the Sydney Uni Flames on a Queensland double-header. In a loss to Townsville Fire the Jayco Opal scored 26 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals and backed up with 35 points and added eight rebounds and two assists to lift the Flames past Logan Thunder.
