O'Hea named WNBL Rnd 15 POTW

Bulleen Boomer Jenna O'Hea has been named the Player of the Week in Round 15 of the Women’s National Basketball League after two stirring performances on the road.

O’Hea posted a career high 36 points to secure victory as Bulleen inflicted Townsville Fire’s first home loss in two seasons, 100-86 in overtime on Saturday.

The former Nunawading junior converted a phenomenal 7-of-8 attempts from beyond the arc and added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

O’Hea inspired the Boomers in the second quarter as she scored 12 points in the term to steal the lead for Bulleen. She stepped up again in the all-important extra period to post four points, two assists and one rebound in five minutes.

The Jayco Opal also played a big part in Bulleen’s 93-67 victory over the Logan Thunder on Friday night.

O’Hea had another terrific all-round game to score 10 points and tally five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 23 minutes on court.

The Bulleen guard is the third player from the league-leading team to earn Player of the Week honours this season.

Round 14 Player of the Week Lauren Jackson was in contention for the award again this week with 25 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks to lead the Canberra Capitals past the Sydney Uni Flames in overtime, 81-78.
Best from the Lightning was Jess Foley with 26/9/3 and 22/6/4 over a 1W-1L week.
