NZ NBL tips off with 49 pts from Devendorf

The Pistons drilled the Giants last night as the NZ NBL tipped off. Notorious college recruit Eric Devendorf had 49 points on debut, despite playing for a loaded squad. You can see the team lists below:

Waikato Pistons (from): Eric Devendorf, Hayden Allen, Gerard Bowden, Thomas Abercrombie, Tony Ronaldson, Alex Pledger, Mike Homik, Puke Lenden, Ray Cameron, Kurtis Elliott, Royli Ali, John Auld.

Nelson Giants (from): Phill Jones, Tony Rampton, Mika Vukona, Michael Harrison, Mike Fitchett, Darryl Jones, Josh Bloxham, Ben Wright, Steve Bill, Bronson Beri, Nico Ritschny, Sam Dempster, Tom Ingham.
There was some noise pre-game about Jones and Vukona not suiting for the Giants. Anyone know if they played?
American import Eric Devendorf made an instant impact for Waikato Pistons in the National Basketball League (NBL) when he amassed 49 points in last night's 92-73 opening round win over Nelson Giants at Te Awamutu.

Devendorf put on a shooting clinic as he landed seven of 10 three-point attempts and another 10 from 16 from inside the keyhole.
And in another game last night:
Cougars 75 (Paora Winitana 27, Jeremy Kench 20)
Hawks 72 (David Langrell 18/10 rebs, Nat Connell 15, Ben Hill 12, Chris Daniel 11).
Anyone see either game?

Didn't see the game but 49!! not a bad debut!! According to newspaper articles Breakers player Alex Pledger had 11pts and 20rbs..plus gerard bowden and hayden allen both had 10, im assuming ronaldson and abercrombie were both quiet since there was nothing mentioned about them and couldn't find a box score anywhere...But waikato are gonna be tought to beat, thats for damn certain

DJ its Puke Lenden, a useful SF type, 6'4" role player.
Saints are also a stacked team, and may trouble Waikato.
Waikato, coached by Dean Vickerman slight favourites ahead of Pero's Saints.
