Tigers target Nevill, Helliwell, Burston, Vukona

Among its recruiting targets are big men Matt Burston, who played last season with the Adelaide 36ers, former University of Utah pivot Luke Nevill and Melbourne-born Wade Helliwell, who is looking to return home from Europe.

Helliwell and/or 218cm Nevill - who has averaged 11.9ppg and 5.5 rebounds in the NBA's D-League with Utah Flash - would give the Tigers an inside presence.

The Tigers are also closing in on no-frills New Zealand international forward Mika Vukona, who spent last season with Gold Coast Blaze after winning a title with the South Dragons.

Vukona would be a handy addition to that team.

Probably pretty reasonable.

So does that mean that the Sixers are not talking to or interested in retaining Burston?

If Burston or vukona signed with any other team, there wouldn't be any questions about the salary cap - it's all getting very boring and predictable.

Anon, not sure but obviously didn't want him as much as Johnson, or he wanted to move. Probably has to factor in his wife too who might not be in the Lightning's targets? If they did try to keep him, might not be able to justify as much as Melbourne could (probably looking at him as a starter over there).

Brad Bridgewater could be a target as he said he has been in melbourne for about 5 years, but could be a waste of an import spot. I think they need luke nevill and wade helliwell, plus mike rose.

Afe you for real? Bridgewater is nowhere near NBL material. That's why he has been playing SEABL for the past 5 years and not in the NBL.

Same goes for Sedale Threatt Jnr and Derrick McDonald. Another two HSH'ers who are nowhere near NBL standard.

Sedale jr can play nbl no worries. Got serious quicks. Wont be a heavy scorer but point guard doesn't need to be.
