Seriously, you could easy burn $5K/yr on petrol, subs, uniforms, aids, balls, accommodation, carnival fees etc.

Indirectly, two trainings a week all year round, a parent would invest around 400 hrs/yr and so at a nominal hourly rate of $25/hr, the opportunity cost would be $10K/yr

Approximately $4000 at the cheapest.
1500 each for Sapsasa and club champs, $500 for dandy, $600 uniforms.

Then think about the petrol needed to get the kid to get the extra trainings.
Then add whatever you will spend on yourself to go to watch the tournaments.

Then there's what's normal for everyone in district basketball: club fees, weekly travel, entrance to games, Easter and (?) State Champs (?).

If you enjoy it and make the most of it, it is money well spent.
If you have doubts, buy a small house or a big car instead.

Depending if they go interstate it can be in excess of 15K, and it continues if they go to the elite level, with overseas trips etc.

If he gets to the NBL and further, it is little to bear.
