Hawks sign Oscar Forman

"Oscar is not only a quality player on the court, but he is well regarded for his character off the court. We're looking forward to him joining the club and working hard on and off the court." CEO Wayne Morris said.

"I think we offered a great opportunity here for Oscar to develop his game in his more natural position. With the addition of playing under Gordie and the lifestyle Wollongong brings, we think this is a great move for Oscar and a positive move for the Hawks," Morris added.
One year deal. Moving to play PF rather than SF.
Forman is the sixth player to be named on the 2010/11 Wollongong ahm Hawks Roster. He joins Captain Mat Campbell, Glen Saville, Larry Davidson, Rhys Martin and Tim Coenraad.
Another signing to be announced within 48 hours.

Good to hear. I was kind of hoping that we would sign him over Holmes or Dowdell because he is more athletic, but I guess over the past few years he has become a 3point role player and seeing as we already have Ng and Herbert I can understand why Clarke went the way he did. He should be a good signing for the Hawks. Has anyone heard anything more about who the sixers might sign to fill their last non-import spot?

Would have liked to see him at the Sixers, but that's life.

I don't think he's proved enough elsewhere to make him a sought after free agent just yet. He's a good player but I'd argue not a consistent enough performer to justify Adelaide signing him.

I understand hometown support, but coming off of a wooden spoon season and having a new coach, I don't think he's who Adelaide need. I actually think Woollongong is a good fit for him; they performed well last season, have a strong fan base and some veteran players he can learn from.

Great move for Oscar and the Hawks. Going to be some big bodies at the PF spot out there though.

Ballinger and Johnson are primarily offensively-oriented players so Holmes as the back-up PF signing makes more sense than Forman. Holmes is almost a specialised rebounder which is what they needed.

I think the starting C would stay as Davidson and the PG would be another import replacing McKee. I'd guess that the next signing would be either Gruber or another big. Not sure if they're keeping Behrendorff, but it could be him.

10-15 minute perimeter threat is about Oscar's lot. Defense will limit playing time.

Who knows, Forman may flourish under Gordie's defensive system. Gordie got the best out of all the players last year. I look forward to seeing if Gordie can get this team to win away this season

this is definitely a better signing for the hawks then dowdell was for us. especially if mccloed can get quality minutes at power forward out of forman

Good to see Oscar get a gig on a quality franchise. I sadly do not think he was what the Sixer's needed at this point. Hopefully Gordie can help him develop his game to the next level.

Good move by Oscar and I look forward to seeing how he advances.
