Matt Nielsen set to sign with Olympiakos

Australian Boomer Matt Nielsen who starred for Valencia this past season, is set to sign on with Greek Euroleague giants Olympiakos! He is reportedly expected to ink a 2 year deal to play with one of the best teams in Europe. Nielsen's signing with Olympiakos follows that of Greek national team player Spanoulis also joining the team as part of the most expensive transfer in Greek basketball history from rivals Panathinaikos.

Nielsen has previously played in the Greek league with PAOK back in 2004/05 season.

This signing further confirms Neilsen's status as one of the best forwards in Europe.

Olympiakos is also interested in David Andersen if he gets released from the Rockets.

On a side note it from the website it seems Linas Kleiza will be back in the league with the Raptors unless the nuggets match the offer

FIBA link about the Nielsen signing: http://linky.com.au/vyy4z

Olympiakos targets the best players available, and hence with Maric being the best centre in Europe last season and Nielsen was MVP for Valencia in the Eurocup, that is why they were after them. Although by all accounts, Maric has committed to Partizan for the next 2 seasons.
