Stankovic: Australia vs Slovenia

I know we scraped past China and didn't look brilliant, but should we really be paying $4.85 against Slovenia this afternoon?

How'd they go against Iran? (Iran are paying $12 against China.)

Whilst I would love the Boomers to win, Slovenia played like amore cohesive unit that what we did last night. Therefore at this stage of our WC preparations, I predict a Slovenian win by 14.

Slovenia just were too big for iran in the paint and on the boards. Brezec, Vidmar and Zupan all played quite well. Dragic was dangerous at times but was more looking for assists, he will definately step up against the aussies. Not sure if Lakovic played but he is a very good point guard, Lefty sharpshooter. Samo Udrih (Sacremanto kings Beno Udrih's Brother) was pretty good aswell. I would personally back the aussies as our wing players etc Newley, Ingles, Barlow, Martin and wortho are way better and should dominate. Need a bit more help inside Jawai or Maric would be handy and obviousley a world class shooter like Bruton would help. But backing Australia would be the right choice i might slap 200 on them myself. Heard Sasha Vujacic has been mentally abusing Goran Dragic by phone so hope that helps Dragic play s**t.

Australia up 40-34 at half time. Really good second quarter and started to see that sharpness you need at international level.

Nielsen has been the glue, Gibson has been excellent, hitting threes and playing great D. Newley seems to be getting more confortable in the offence and is picking his moments to attack the rim very well. Worthington has been handling the 4-spot pretty well but needs to stop picking up cheap fouls.

Andersen, Mills and Markovic have struggled so far, though Patty has still made a couple of pretty nice plays. We have looked best with Gibson and Ingles carrying the ball, surprisingly enough, although Joe has at times tried to do too much again.

Mills needs to get the ball into the offence and try to score when he gets it back.

Yes much better offense. Patty is starting to light up and also Matt Nielson and Joe Ingles are playing well and gibbo has hit a couple of contested 3's but missed an open oneand Baynes i thought was pretty productive when he came in. Good to see Barlow get some game time but unfortunately picked up 2 quick stupid fouls.
P.S. Would give link to free live game but that means it will slow my link down which happened last night and also can't stand no.7 for slovenia with the Mohawk.

Boomers looked good with Mills effectively running as a two guard. Gibson good again and hit a big buzzer beater. Slovenia are picking up their game though, starting to get better ball movement and troubling Boomers a bit with their zone. Expect this to get close.

The Aussie defence is very good, great help and recover with everyone on the same page. Gibson and Ingles are controlling the tempo pretty well so far in the fourth - some great signs tonight and let's hope they can finish off.

77-63 final score. Gibson shuts it down with a three, and the last basket again was Mills to Andersen.

Impressive performance against a team that will definitely be top 16, and possibly sneak into the top 8.

Wonder what Iran is thinking got beat by Slovenia by 30+ points and Aussies beat slovenia buy 14 points. But Iran were missing Hamed Haddadi and iv'e never seen Nikkha so cold in shooting in an international game before.

Hahaha! I'm glad I was proven wrong Isaac, but you should know you should always go with you own gut instinct and avoid listening to others!

I didn't get a chance to watch the game last night, but reading through the recap and this thread, it appears we were much more in sync as a team and the result is just result.

We play Iran tonight, and if we win we will definitely finish 1st and be in the gold medal game. We will play the winner of China vs Slovenia who play tonight in the final.

Go Boomers!

Massive thanks for the link Avv.

How good is the Baynes dunk on Brezec with 8:20 to go. Some really good signs from the whole team in this game. We can really run pretty much 10 deep without losing a great deal. Would have been awesome to see the other couple of bigs that we have missing from this tourny and the WC. Ran the break better than I can remember for some time. Good watch. Cheers.
