The Victorian state Government is reportedly supporting a push for a 2nd Melbourne side to return to the NBL, to be based at the new basketball facility in Knox.

From the article:

With $7 million already committed to the planned State Basketball Centre at Knox, the Government will announce another $1 million in funding to upgrade the venue to international standards and ready to use at NBL level.

The extra funding from the Brumby Government will provide more seating for a 3200-capacity show court, international quality flooring and lighting, and improved media facilities, particularly to accommodate TV broadcasting.

Jump shot, what is the Dome if not a purpose built multi court stadia? They had one, but they sold it and sold out basketball.

XY it's also not built for competitions when in 3 court mode.

It also came with a $18m loan from the state government which basketball couldn't pay back.

Cricket, SANFL/AFL, Netball, Soccer, Hockey now Swimming ... all gifted venues and supported by millions in government funding. Basketball has to take out a loan and gets ZERO funding for its facility.

^^^ and when it gets its funding, again more popular sports takes place.

try booking to any basketball indoor courts and you will find your self fuming because bookings are dominated by indoor soccer!
