Non-American Imports in the NBL

non-American imports have been few and far between in the NBL, do teams even bother looking for them or is the American college system so advanced that there's no point looking for them.

I know Europeans would always stay in Europe, but what's to stop the NBL from being a good NBA breeding ground for non-Americans and non-Euros?

I remember Rimas Kurtanitus, the lithuanian olympian that played for the twonsville suns for a while, then there were a few african guys (nzigamazabo and someone else) that played for the razorbacks for a while.

ernest nzigamazsabo was the other african for the razorbacks and was rather useless.

Reyes was atrocious, could rebound but that was it. The rest of his game was non-existent, he spent the time he could have worked on it at Maccas. He was from Puerto Rico BTW. Fringe national team player there for years.

what about Jason Castro from the PBL?

Castro didn't get to play in the NBL - he was supposed to with Singapore in '08/09, but they pulled out of the NBL two and a half months before the start of the season. They organised a series of exhibition matches to keep them occupied until the ASEAN League started the year after, but Castro didn't play in any of those either - he went back to the Philippines and nominated for the PBA draft.

Mark Dickel was an import prior to New Zealand breakers joining NBL.
Tony Rampton also.
Adris Deleon.

Cairns had that small forward that seemed to want to start fights and was very fiery, that was from 2017, Michael Carerra, he's Venezuelan.

Scott Morrison of the Melbourne Tigers is Canadian as well

Tai Wesley was born in Utah and spent most of his childhood in the US. He doesn't really qualify as non-American even though he can play for Guam.
