One HD, not good

Next week on Tuesday night "NBA Primetime with Andrew Bogut" is not on again with swimming shown instead.

Then on Wednesday night Overtime has been pushed back to 10:30pm with a movie to be shown in it's regular 8:30pm timeslot. The NBA replay of the game earlier in the day (Bucks/Raptors) normally shown at 10:30pm has been bumped altogether.

Might as well start directing those emails towards OneHD rather than the forum.

Ratings.

Basketball doesn't rate.

One have given us more screentime then any Australian TV network ever, yet you guys still complain.

Today One has basketball on all day, 2 NBA games and an NBL game.

Stop complaining!

Dont think the OP was complaining about the amount of bball on OneHD, more that they are slowly getting rid of / bumping to late time slots bball shows that were previously shown during prime time. How long before they get rid of basketball altogether?

and it never will while their news services refuse to support it
How many 36ers stories do Ten run locally compared to Adelaide United.
Doesn't make sense to me that they are finically committed to the league yet their news rooms don't give a rats.

Do the 36ers give them anything to report?

United have one of the most active Media Manager's in sport in this country.

36ers don't even have a Media person.

Anon the old Adelaide United Media Manager was fired a couple of months back- united are in the news so much as they have a new coach, dynamic playmakers and were in the top two for a majority of the season.

Im sure if the 36ers were winning each week the media would pay more attention (well more then they are now).

put yet basketball out rates the soccer hands down

Only Adelaide and Melbourne draw any note worthy crowds. I saw one game the other day that was televised and there was not one person sitting in the TV arc of the stadium. no one behind the goals either. What did United last play in front of 2000 people?even this was an overestimate of about 200%.

ratings doesnt equate to news worthy

Big picture is that Packer and Murcdoch have vested interests in soccer succeeding and no skin in basketball at all.

Why did Murdoch take large stakes in the Knicks and Yankees? becuase he loves the sport? no way because he needs to control the content, without content he has no empire.

Soccer fills the Advertiser, have you ever asked why beacuse it never used to, that is until Murdoch pumped in millions of dollars via Foxtel

The Advertiser and other controlled media is effectively a giant ad for Murdoch and Packers investments.

Governement owns a large portion of telstra which in turns owns a large chunk of Foxtel, why does the Gov pump millions into soccer? the have a vested interest in Foxtel succeeding.

What about ratings for World Cup vs World Championships?

What about ratings for EPL v NBA?

What about attendances from Socceroos games in Australia vs Boomers games?

Adelaide Untied is averaging 10,000+ per home game. The Dome doesn't even hold that.

Soccer is supported by Lowry and in turn Westfield.

Basketball is supported by iiNet.

There are a lot of reasons.

Yeah but honestly, we've been there of having "rich uncles" owning our teams, it didn't work out so well. Can't imagine what'll happen when Lowy kicks the bucket, whoever controls his money may not give to turds about soccer.

People will report basketball when it's in their interest to do so. We get 4500 to most Sixer games - that's small potatoes really. Interest needs to be gained at a lower level first, NBL crowds need to be almost selling out every game and start rating highly before anyone in the media will start caring again.

It's unfortunate but it's true; we have to go through that "organic" process because we're not one of this country's "traditional" sports (despite having the first national competition).

Lowy loses millions & millions that he pumps into A League soccer which is ashtray money when you're a multi-billionaire.

The second Lowy decides to pull out of the A League the league will collapse the following day.

I dont have figures for every game but the ones I have seen have the NBL at around 30K average and the A-League ranging from less than that up to around 40K.
