Boomers Announce Final YouYi Games Team

Pretty average looking lineup but was to be expected for such minor games. Will still be great to watch some international basketball live on free to air though.

I look forward to seeing the non-NBL based players, especially those who will be playing in the NBL for the first time this up-coming season.

"especially those who will be playing in the NBL for the first time this up-coming season" - Is Bose the only one or am I missing some people?

Clint Steindl from St. Mary's hasnt played NBL.

The Boomers need a gun from long distance. Be interesting to see if he's become automatic from 3 yet or not.

Seemed a bit hit and miss during his college career I thought.

Baynes is a banger who has been plagued by foul problems in the German Bundesliga. He has shown he can put up some great numbers in that league when he has been able to stay out of foul trouble.

Kickert is more of a finesse big man who has scoring range all the way beyond the arc and his form improved as the season climaxed in the Polish League His defence has been a weakness.

Barlow has been solid in unspectacular in the best league in arguably the best national league in Europe (Spanish ACB).

Steindl is a decent wing defender who has extensive 3 point shooting range and an ability to get hot as demonstrated in the NCAA Division I. He does need to be set up by others as he cannot create his own shot.

Will good to see if Steindl gets a crack and see how his game stacks up at this level as I think it may be a big jump for him.

I reckon foul issues will limit Baynes to 12 - 15 mins. Nevill will tire around the 20 min mark. That leaves a fair chunk of time for Kickert to have to cover at centre. I don't mind small ball as a deliberate tactic, but I worry a little when it is actually forced upon you as a coach, especially at the international level.

Ben MADGEN / 193cm / 83kg / Sydney Kings

i never saw hjim play much through the nbl season.. how good is this guy?

Clint STEINDL / 201cm / 88kg / St Mary's College

David BARLOW / 205cm / 97kg / CAI Zaragoza, Spain

to see if he has improved.

Jesse WAGSTAFF / 203cm / 98kg / Perth Wildcats

i dont remmeber how he played but i remember carfino always mentioning his name lol

Anatoly BOSE / 201cm / 89kg / Sydney Kings

heard good things, we will see

Rhys MARTIN / 193cm / 79kg / Wollongong Hawks

basic role player,.... ummm./.. why? are we really that low that were goin for nbl bench players?

ok... selections i dont agree with at all are

Daniel DILLON / 194cm / 90kg / Melbourne Tigers

whats he doing there? young un with potential sure, but hes hardly an instrumental player in cairns.

Peter CRAWFORD / 193cm / 88kg / Townsville Crocodiles

sorry sick of seeing his head. lol

Luke NEVILL / 216cm / 120kg / BC Triumph Lyubertsy,

big unco

Aron BAYNES / 208cm / 118kg / EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Germany

low basketball IQ heavy foul trouble

Dillon virtually won game three of the semi final off his own hand, than alone deserves a crack in a series like this.

For anyone interested I have written a bit about the Chinese coach and the series - he is one hell of an intense character.

I doubt Steindl will even start for Saint Mary's in the next college season.

Been meaning to ask anyone in the know if these guys are from the same Chinese team that Goorjian was helping to train late last year......
If so will it mean they may know a lot more about our style of play than we know of theirs ?

just wondering

Has Kickert previously played in the NBL? I missed it if he did.

I think 9/12 from the Chinese team played at the last WC's so they were near full strength last night.

Martin and Barlow for mine were our best players last night.

If the Boomers worst team ever can beat a near full strength China, something's wrong.
