This thursday there is suposed to be an announcment about the future of the pirates and their financial situation. Part of the likely news is that the team will be heading to Canberra. Seems like a season cant go bye without a team needing to fold or relocate, so just how strong is the leagues position really when this is occuring?

The league needs to look at promoting the game more. Look at the AFL everytime you turn on the TV it's got AFL on it.
Maybe we should bring Eddie McGuire to bball - actually no, no guy like that is good for bball.

Canberra people and very supportive of a winning team. If the team is crap or average then they don't get the support, hence the Raiders for the past few years.
The Raiders are winning, top of the table and are starting to pull decent numbers to the games, but it has taken some wins to get there.
Brumbies are winners (well not this season so far) and they always get a packed house.
If the Pirates aka Cannons do come back to Canberra they had better put a decent team on the floor or they will have to move again next season.
Will they be called Cnberra cannons
Canberra Pirates or will they have a total new name again (if so i hope it's got a better logo than the pirates)

Hmm not great news for the leauge, maybe they could set up a time share agreement year by year :-)
