Breakers @ Hawks

Today NZ visit Wollongong after knocking off the Blaze on the Gold Coast. Its tonight's TV game and will be interesting to see how the Breakers back up in their 2nd road game in 3 days. Will also be interesting to see how the Hawks go as they are lacing talent like usual but always seem to be able to a lot with what they've got.

Interestingly Sportsbet $1.45 and NZ at $2.75. Centrebet's odds are similar. Not sure why the Hawks are favourites going into this game but looking forward to watching it none the less.

Thoughts? Tips?

The thing is with the Hawks even if they are lacking in talent they always have the heart and effort (something the Sixers don't have) so you can never count them out. Add to that they are playing on their home court for their first game of the season and they will come out confident. Its never easy to beat Hawks at home.

Either way I think it will be a good game to watch and not sure who to pick.

a great thing about nbl betting is sometimes it seems the betting agencies have no idea, or at least aren't 100% well informed, so can be taken advantage of at times.

Also, would anyone like to expand on why the think hawks/nz will win?

Hawks are always tough at home.
I'm hoping the Breakers will get it done and go 2-0 for round 1.

Breakers shooting the ball well again. Abercrombie has hit a couple of 3's. Double digit lead in the 2cnd.

Abercrombie was stifled sharing a team with Penney. As long as he and Wilkinson can perform consistently, they have enough other contributors on the team to succeed.

Hawks have gone from paying $3+ to $1.65 favourites. Reeled in the lead.

Even that it looks like the Hawks will lose you have to admire their heart and effort. They were down by 14 end of the 1st quarter and the Breakers got it out to 19 in the second quarter but they came back to tie it going into the last quarter. Their fans would appreciate their effort as would the Sixers fans if the Sixers showed the same sort of heart.

64 points in the last quarter and breakers fouling when they led ?
is this not smelling funny to anybody else ?
did somebody drop a big wad of cash on this game and inform the teams at the last quarter ?

Breakers werent fouling deliberately while ahead. Great game though, both teams looking pretty good.

Jackson with some great numbers in his 2cnd game and Pledger contributed as soon as he hit the floor. Wilkinson looks to be in great form and hit some nice shots as well as playing decent defense on the Hawks bigs.

I watched the live stats and then only watched the third quarter of the delayed telecast when Vukona got going. Thought Davidson played very well, looked confident.

You missed the Oscar Forman spectacular.
Seems he's a pretty good cook , very popular with the girls and wiped the florr pretty good , last nite.

Just checking out the stats and noticed that Boucher played more than 40 minutes?

How can you do that in a 40 minute game?

Strange thing was that he was not even a starter??

Boucher hit a 3 so he gets to edit his own stats.
Thought the refs were pretty good last night.

I think the 40 minutes by Boucher was just a mistake by the stat people, no way he played 40 last night. Im not sure why Pledger is getting no burn! In the 2 games he averaged 8 and 6 and 1.5 blocks in just 10 mins! he starts for the TBs and was the most valuable player in the NZ league I think, not sure why Lemanis lets him waste away on the bench!

Because the guy in front of him made All NBL Team in his first year in the league and shoots at a much better clip all over the floor. Pledger is a great asset coming off the bench and is only getting better, much in part due to Wilkinsons involvement with him @ training (watch Wilkinsons reactions on the bench when Pledger hits a bucket or blocks someone).
Centres generally develop later than Guards or Forwards so their is no rush with the Pledgehammer.
