How about a South Australian Basketball Hall of Fame?
Would be a good annual fundraiser for the Hudson Maher Foundation.
Annual dinner, nominations, inductees etc great way to get old players back to their clubs.
Don't think it would be too hard to get 20+ people per club to a dinner like that.
Have player, coach, volunteer & administration inductees.

I went to the inaugaral Hall of Fame dinner some years ago. (early 90s?- I'm not sure)
The inductees were Keith Miller, Frank Angove and Merv (Skip) Harris.
There were display cases for each of them near the entrance to the passage for the Corporate boxes.
I think the idea was that it was to be a yearly event, but I have no idea if it ever progressed.
I assume someone from BASA would know. - but then!!!

rick hodges actually played over 700 games....i dont think there is any doubt he will end up in the hall of fame.....is that the record...it would have to be bloody close...who would have played the most games currently....whitmore...mckay???

Surely, to qualify for HOF as a player or coach, you need to be retired for at least 2 seasons (as per the National requirements)

So many players over the years. Scott Whitmore? Give me a break...
to be a HOFer you need to ask a couple of questions.
1. Did you play in the Olympics?
2. Did you win a Woollacott Medal?
3. Did you play NBL?
4. Did you play for Australia at all?
Same for coaches/umpires etc.

I agree with Mr. Assist what has Shipway ever done? Played for South Australia won South Adelaides champions award a couple of times coached for twenty years at CBA level played over 550 games in state league coached in the NBL assistant in the NBL to Gary Fox and Ken Cole and now coaching some South juniors 'cause he was asked to. Just for the love of the game. If a few others had done nothing like him we wouldnt be in the mess like we are now. Yeah he's done nothing Mr Assist. What a clown you are!
