NBA Trade Deadline Fallout

http://www.nba.com/news/transactions/2012-trade-deadline-tracker/

Nothing like kicking off a Friday by discussing the fun that is the March Trade Deadline.

The most notable impact from this appears to have been the dismantling of Portland's starting lineup; with Wallace moving to New Jersey, Camby moving to Houston and Nate McMillan getting fired.

Warriors do the smart thing and move Jackson to the Spurs; thus saving them a year.

And good old Dwight Howard wastes everyones time by chickening out and saying in Orlando until Season's end.

Have a read of the tracker and discuss.

Oden got waived as well.

Spurs aquired S Jax from the Warriors for Jefferson. Adds some scorong punch and toughness. Spurs' last roll of the dice of the Duncan era it seems.

Here's the transaction tracker

Trades include G Wallace to the Nets, Fisher out of Lakers, Nene to the Wizards for McGee, Jackson for RJ.

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to trade Nene to the Washington Wizards in exchange for JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf. The Los Angeles Clippers, acting as a facilitator, agreed to send Brian Cook and a future second-round pick to the Wizards in exchange for shooting guard Nick Young, according to sources.
One source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Portland Trail Blazers were forced to waive oft-injured center Greg Oden -- selected No. 1 overall in the 2007 draft over Kevin Durant -- to help create sufficient roster space to accommodate all the players Portland acquired in separate trades with New Jersey and Houston on Thursday.
New Jersey has reached agreement on a trade with Portland that will bring Gerald Wallace to the Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the talks.

The deal, sources say, sends the expiring contract of Nets forward Mehmet Okur and Shawne Williams -- along with a protected future first-round pick -- to the Blazers for Wallace.
After acquiring guard Stephen Jackson two days ago, the Golden State Warriors agreed to send him to the San Antonio Spurs for Richard Jefferson, league sources told ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst.

The Spurs also will send their first-round draft pick this year as part of the package. Sources say that pick is lottery protected.
The Los Angeles Lakers traded longtime point guard Derek Fisher after acquiring Ramon Sessions earlier in the day, according to sources.

Fisher, who has spent 13 of his 16 NBA seasons with the Lakers, was dealt to the Houston Rockets for Jordan Hill, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher. The Lakers also will send the Rockets a first-round pick, previously acquired from Dallas, in this year's draft.

The Lakers picked up Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a multi-player deal that will bring the Cavs the Lakers' 2012 first-round pick.

The Cavs also will send young wing player Christian Eyenga to the Lakers, while veteran forwards Luke Walton and Jason Kapono will be going to the Cavs. The Lakers will keep their draft pick this year if they miss the playoffs. As part of the deal, the Cavs also will have the right to swap Miami's 2013 first-round pick, which they own, for the Lakers' first-round selection.
Any more?

Collectively we appear to have them all Isaac.

I think Golden State and New Jersey managed to come out the winners from this trade deadline.

Portland are probably going to to dissolve the rest of their team by season's end and see what can be built around Aldridge.

Interesting move for Denver.
There has been talk of McGee asking for a MAX extension!!!!!
If he is that delusional then they should have fun re-signing in the offseason.

Big winners - Golden State, at least on paper.

Mark Jackson will have had a season (albeit a shortened one) to get used to the head coaches gig and with a full training camp and hopefully healthy roster, GSW could move to 48 wins and a playoff spot in the west next season.

After seeing the recent McGee "highlights" video, I'm not sure why any serious team would take him on, unless it was purely to save money down the track.

Houston make some sneaky good trades again....creating something from nothing. Look for Fisher to be bought out as soon as Kyle Lowry is healthy again. I can't imagine he will be too happy playing behind lowry/dragic on a team that will be at best a first round casualty.

Word is Fisher will be bought out by Houston, and back in a Lakers uniform in the not too distant future.

Fisher can't play for the Lakers again this season, rule was changed to prevent it.

Miami or Spurs would be good fits though.

Howard waived his player option. So will be in Orlando until the end of 12-13 season. Then we can look forward to the "will he or won't he" circus all over again. Deron Williams to Orlando in offseason? or Mavs?

and if Nick Young can fit into the Clippers system, they are going to be really dangerous. I'm a big fan of Young. Can flat out score, defense though is a little shaky as per nba scorers.

The Clippers are not going to be dangerous in any playoff series against any proper team. They have no offense and can't play defense either...
