Lemanis wins Coach of the Year

Should've been Fearne IMO. Lemanis won 53-50 over him.

Lemmanis is a deserving winner. Fearne is a great coach doing well with an average team but last year NZ straight dominated and Lemmanis was penalized in voting for having the best player in the league and a strong squad that he assembled. This year without Penney, Braswell and Henare they have again dominated. Lead games from start to finish, came back from double figures down to win, OT games and double OT games getting the W. Back to back minor premierships and a good shot at back to back titles.

Mystro, they did have the opportunity to throw Penney's money at a great import who challenged for MVP, plus brought in Corletto.

The Breakers were tipped to be top three easily.

Cairns were expected by many to be last and until the final games, were a chance at making the play-offs again. NZ might've needed to replace Penney, but Cairns had to replace Ubaka, Dorsey and Dillon who were important contributors last year. They picked up two Adelaide discards, ran with an import some thought could've been sacked, and still did pretty well.

As you know Isaac, Imports are a lottery and Lemmanis hit the Jackpot. It also wasn't like Jackson came in on Penney's salary, Wilkinson and a couple of others got increased $ and he scored an upgrade in Corletto over Webster but of course Corletto is on more $. Jackson is an upgrade on Braswell for sure. Most of this extremely strong team are local player developed by the club, how many other teams boast that much local talent?
For how long does he need to have a dominant team before he is considered the best?
Fearne has done a great job with a team expected to finish near the bottom but he missed out on the playoffs and I'm not into sympathy votes just cos half his team jumped ship in the off season.

Well deserved. People often forget that one of the coaches main responsibilities is to recruit good imports. Lemanis went out and got Jackson who is amazing. Then, he managed to get Wilko back.
