So what did everybody think of the Under 12s and 16s Country Carnival?

I am very surprised at the large number of teams that competed. To use Wayville,Pasenda and Morphett Vale and some of the early starts that happended shows how big the carnival has become. The under 12 Girls Div 1 G/F was interesting to see Port Lincoln and Whyalla battle it out in Adelaide. The under 16 boys Div 1 G/F went into overtime and the Under 16 Girls Div 1 was a good game with Yorke Valley too strong for Mount Gambier Lakers.

The Under 16 girls was interesting with yorke valley undefeated and this particular team has lost only one game at various carnivals over the last season. They did this with almost no bench and with 2 under 14's at state champs ! It is no surprise that nearly all these girls play metro but the real reason for there success comes from the coaching of trudy ireland and her commitment to the basketball program based at Kadina .

The U/12 boys Div 1 competition was also of a high standard. The GF was "size v skill" with Port Pirie taking on Eastern Hills. Port Pirie has some very big boys indeed, and ended up winning by 16-17pts after only beating Eastern Hills by 2 in the round game. Both teams have had some great games at past carnivals leading into the State Championships, with Eastern Hills having the edge. Great coaching by Matt P (Pirie coach) & the young Panthers!
