Ed Millard's transfer from North to Eastern

Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, but does anyone know how it came to be that Ed Millard has transferred from North to Eastern mid-season?

Competitions Committee are useless and make up the rules as they please depending on who they like or dislike.

North (Pero) did not want him as he said it like it was and so agreed on a clearance to where ever,( why you would not want a player who was leading the scoring after 2 games to stay ?????,) maybe not enough room for two stars in one team.....

like everything many different sides to this story.
But the bottom line is BasketballSA and the competition committee have screwed over 8 other clubs who did not have a say in this mid season transfer.
Start the season on one set of rules then anyone with a biggest enough sob story gets to play by their own rules. Sturt would be pissed because they wanted to play by their own rules and got rejected(wanting two imports for womens team) Forestville tried to play by their own rules(Carla Borrego)but was slapped. Now that poor eastern bottom of the food chain gets to take a reject from Nth Adelaide alls good for the rules to change because its good for basketball(insert sarcasm). Who cares if North agreed to this- this was a deccison that affected 8 other clubs.
Paul Arnott and his competition committe are a effing joke.

How did he go last night? Well, after a very sloppy first quarter, Millard finally stopped his constant whining and concentrated on his game, helping Eastern get within 6 points of Forestville at 3 quarter time. After he fouled out early in the last quarter Eagles romped home. If the aim was to make Eastern more competitive, it seems to have worked. But bugger the rules for the other clubs eh?

Think the other clubs might be happy. North Adelaide just became less threatening come finals time, and Eastern are already out of finals.

Seems to me the competition committee did the right thing for the individual as well as Eastern. It is halfway through the season and no club is disadvantaged given the number if times they play Eastern with or without Ed

And at 0-9 hardly going to make finals. My understanding is that all members of the competition agreed to the exemption to allow a person to play. I say well done to Paul and the committee to consider everything and make the right decision

You quote the Carla situation. Perhaps bring open and honest up front does count for something when trying to get a favorable response rather than being devious

"North (Pero) didn't want him" - I hear it a little different. Like Millard was offered the world and got delivered Jack.

but he does make a differance
he makes a massive differance to that team, as someone above said they got within 6 points to forestville the old mavs team only a week earlier got killed by west by 50 points
yes they may not make finals now but they could be the differance between another team making it, if that team misses out by a game and mavs was a team they wouldve beaten without Millard then HELLO he has made a differance
once again BSA has done what they feel like rather than thinking of the repercussions

Every team in the league has to play Eastern again. If your good enough for finals and deserve to be there it will take care of itself.

Above anon - exactly. If one player to a team who hasnt won a game to a team not making the finals the you don't deserve to be there. To the anon above that you are so wrong

Thanks for the feedback competition committee. So if you honestly want to break the rules you apply for an exemption, jez!!!!!!! Unanimous or not doesn't make this exemption right. Just because every team gets to play them once more, makes it fair to all. Crap! Agreed if you’re good enough you should make it anyway BUT that is not the point. This is our top league for our state and we are treating it like junior basketball
The point is we all started the season on one set of rules and you have changed them halfway through the season. Not to mention a blatant disregard of the 60 day rule that the CABL currently play under.
It’s because of decisions made like this that BasketballSA and the competition committee are considered a joke and no-one will co-operate with them to improve basketball in this state

Seems pretty obvious to me that BSA have made the smart, logical decision with this situation, which all clubs agreed upon. This does make a change to the normal BSA processes, yet this time they have got it right.

It sounds like you are the only one with the problem if all the other clubs agreed well so be it. As the member clubs have a say and vote in most of the rules... If you are that UPSET and want to have a CRY do waste you time here go for a drive down there tomorrow and have your say,

Bwahahaha ! " - What a Marooon " ( To quote Bugs Bunny )

ANON - did you even read yourself ????

If you Don't want to break the rules, then you follow the rules by applying for an exemption - and then you follow what the final decision of that body is -- that actually following the rules --- not breaking them.

Man - no wonder there are so many anonymous posts - I thought it was because they did not want to make their name public - I never realised that it may be that they were never ever actually bright enough to learn how to spell their own name.

Someone above mentioned this is our top league etc, why not allow players to change mid year? Our other top league the SANFL allows it.

Three reasons that imports are often moved on.

1. They aren't up to the standard of the League.

2. Their type of play prevents team play, team is
losing and everyone is unhappy.

3. They cost the Club too much in off court expenses.

What Rules
Years ago

Because the rules allow for it only to be done in the first 60 days of the season. This took place after 60 days.

Thought being an ex coach you may have been up with the rules ..:)
