Rashard Lewis to the Heat

Deal looks to be done soon. Not a bad looking line-up...

Comes in as a spot up shooter yet he averaged under 30% from deep last year. Has a history of being banged up the last 3 seasons. Don't see him getting much playing time.

I'd say his shooting % will go well up on last year...his team mates are of a slightly higer standard. And if it doesn't work out he is only signed for the vet min so not much to lose.

Would have loved to see Gaze in his prime get a shooting gig in a side like this. Paxxson & Kerr are good examples.I can see why Ray Allen has gone there. These guys have the East sewn up & the Lakers are looking great in the West!! Gonna be a great season...

Orbit

Knicks front line looks a bit scary with Chandler and Camby protecting the paint and ready to swat some shots too.

Champ, Knicks needed Nash IMO to gel them all. They will be lucky to survive the first round again!

Knicks need a proper coach, and plus their roster doesn't make sense together.

Also, a healthy bulls team isn't far off the best in the East.

Can't think of a player in recent times going to such a hated arch-rival in the peak of a rivalry like Ray Allen has defected to the Heat. Gonna make for a great playoff series next year.

Miami is going to have to keep making moves like this to stay on top because there are some seriously good younger teams snapping at their heels.

Agree with orbit about the Knicks. Anthony and Stoudamire are not winners. Plus Camby is just and older less effective version of Chandler that has past it. Im not sure why people are making a big deal of that.

As for Lewis, solid pick up.

Think it shows alot more guys late (or after making crazy $$) in there career are going to chase rings on the min cash...

Makes having a good front office even more important to ensure you get 2 or 3 superstars then just pad up with a couple of Vets who can shoot & play D the rest will take care of it self!

For next season that East won't be all that much, Derrick Rose won't be himself until at least 2013/14. The Knicks are a mess, the players don't compliment each other much at all. With Houston 90% likely to receive Dwight Howard overnight, the Nets won't have the firepower to match. Celtics won't have the footspeed to match the Heat on the Perimeter.
This undersized Heat lineup is going to cause nightmares for the Lakers and Thunder.
How is Gasol going to defend either LeBron or Ray Allen (assuming he starts at SF). Bosh would have a mismatch over Bynum with footspeed, and there's no perimeter depth on the Lakers part to adequately run small at this stage.
The reason the Heat beat the Thunder was because of the undersized lineup, the bigs in the west can't defend the Heat at all with the smaller lineup.
Granted the mismatches go against the Heat as well, but they've shown to have the defensive structures down pat to sufficiently deal with the problem, no one else has shown that yet.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Lewis-LeBron-Allen/Battier-Wade-Chalmers lineup at stages, particulary against the Thunder, who have no legit post presence. Perkins and Ibaka would have to stretch out to Lewis and another shooter, or run Durant as the big man, which means that Harden would be matched on Lebron or Wade (and we saw how that worked out).

Everyone is forgetting that Ray Allen hasn't been effective for over a season, and Lewis for at least three.

Granted, there are reasons - injuries, personality clashes, motivation, etc - but they are just as likely to get no return on this investment as they are a couple of veteran steals.

yes true Mick but how open are Lewis and or Allen's looks going to be with Bosch, Wade and James all on the court?

If the Heat can stay healthy, expect another Heat title next season...
