Breakers vs Hawks, Feb 15th

Breakers got out by a bit before a late charge by the Hawks was eventually repelled. NZ won 92-84.

Vukona had 24, Abercrombie 17 and Pledger 12 & 10.

For the Hawks, Deleon with 33, Forman 21, Grant 10.

Wollongong shot well but were dominated on the boards 33-20 and had 17 turnovers to NZ's nine. Points off turnovers were 21-7 to the home side and Breakers also had an advantage of 13-2 in second chance points.

Some good shooting nights out there - Vukona was 11/14 FG, Pledger went 10/10 from the stripe, Deleon was 12/17 FG and Forman 9/12 FG.

20/3 feels a whole lot better than the Jeff Green/Frank Arsego days that's for sure.

And Vukona goes 11/14 every night. I would love to see Hawks with one more starter. Sadly a good effort does not translate to wins and that is all that counts for Hawks. Good to see Mirko get on court.

As for the Breakers how many close games can they win. Would love to see Breakers get smashed one night to balance the ledger -when their luck/good management runs out-maybe it will be when it counts most.

Said on Twitter, but thought it was interesting that Gordie played rookie Djeric in the clutch of a winnable game even with Grant and Deleon out there, and with players familiar to the system on the bench. Going for speed/hustle? Even in that case, played him ahead of Demos?

Wonder if he sees an opportunity in Djeric to quickly blood a back-up to Martin, and save import spots for SG and SF? He has three options in Hurdle, Deleon and Grant for SG potentially. I assume Hurdle is the frontrunner if his recovery is timely - output was good and he fits in easily.

Has anyone noticed recently that a lot of PG's have been having great games v NZ? Deleon twice in the last month has had great games vs them

I just can't see NZ (unless significant injury) dropping any game bar Perth-in-Perth and even then their ability to close a tight game is reaching nigh-mystical proportions.

missed this game but just watched highlights and the Commentary team mentioned the Breakers honored Glen Saville before the game, nice work by the club paying their respects to a legend.
