Thomas Abercrombie ceiling?

He's getting older every year and still hasn't taken over this league.
He's like the nbl version of trevor ariza, long athletic and can get buckets.
When will he peak?

I'm not worried about his NBL career, he may have already peaked and he would start for all clubs (maybe not In front of Weigh) but its his international career where he goes missing.

I'm sure he will have a career that he will be proud of but damn fine comparison with Ariza

At the world champs he averaged 12.7 points and 6.8 rebounds shooting at 49%. Not many Australians have ever put up numbers like that.

Patty also lead the Olys in scoring. Hows he doing now? Enough said.

He's playing for the Spurs, I think that's pretty good actually.

I think Abercrombie has already reached his ceiling unfortunately.....would have loved to see him crack the NBA.

The best is yet to come. He has barely scratched the surface. At 28 or 29 he'll start really playing his best.

his struggles against the boomers in the olympic qualification series suggest he needs to play more against consistently elite level 2/3s. There's definitely athleticism in the NBL but he did struggle a bit against guys like Newley/Ingles/Barlow, so perhaps he just needs to bite the bullet and try out for the NBA after this season and if he doesn't get a gig go to Europe.

The ankle injury definitely hasn't helped, but there's still a pretty massive gap between an NBL star and even getting a sniff at an NBA roster spot - ask Cedrick Jackson.

Comparing Abercrombie to Brad Newley: Brad (who dominated the NBL at a much younger age) was drafted in the 2nd round but hasn't had a look at the NBA outside the summer league.

It's not just about 'is player X good enough?', but also 'is player X better than his competition?'.

Answer: afraid not.

Wonder if he will step up and shoulder more responsibility if the Breakers lose Bruton and Jackson down the track?

His game was crazy when penney was at the breakers , the best swingman/slasher type player in this league. His 3point shot is very handy aswell. He scores a lot of buckets off screens and ball watching defenders. Hops!

I think when corey webster is starting along side tom thats when he's gonna peak? They played together in high school

And please what he did in turkey lit up the world. In game dunks were beastly!

He would have peaked already if it wasn't for Crawford's dirty foul....

"his struggles against the boomers in the olympic qualification series"

Abercrombie got his points for the Tall Blacks from ball rotations and offensive boards. Australia came in with a very god plan to shut down those opportunities and NZ didnt adjust to get him more opportunities.

From memory he only took 12 or 13 shots for the series. It wasnt a case of him strugging against an opponent. Certainly Newley also scored very few points at a poor percentage in that series too.

He's a really talented player. I bet right now he can be the main SF for Real Madrid, a big Euroleague team that needs help at that position.

He needs to try playing at a higher level. He has all the tools.

Decision making and shot selection this season has dampened his game. He started out slow and scoring a lot better during this winning streak. The ankle injury done a lot confidence wise. But he's improving , doubt Real would start him, he's more of an impact man.

Real Madrid would rather start Scotty Pippen
