NBL should move to summer and share ops with soccer

The NBL should move to summer and create a business model that is of interest to football clubs. In Europe they have super clubs where football (soccer) and basketball clubs are all owned by the same group.

This could work for football and give clubs a revenue stream in the summer and lots of opportunities to value add to sponsors, with the ability to operate at a lower cost with economies of scale.

The NBL should start charging $100 for every moron that thinks their idea is worthy of its own thread. They'd have about $8000 from the past day and a half.

Don't limit the 'donations' to $100 per person: Andrew Gaze should be capable of chipping in the $8,000 on his own!

Saints preserve us! Linking the '36ers with the Reds would improve the situation? How? Have you been following the Reds' carryings-on ... including the chairman [by his own admission on radio] consulting with a 'star player' about the coaching situation?

I know the suggestion was national in context, but the local effect would be to link the 'sixers with the Reds. Now, if one had plenty of money and the other was strong on governance/management there might be some sense in it, but since both organisations appear to be lacking in both areas, such a manouvre would seem pointless, and quite possibly destructive.

In this neck of the woods, if you wanted to pursue this type of model you'd be talking to the AFL clubs, just as Townsville is talking the League guys up there.

I actually meant AFL clubs. Basketball isn't a threat to them. if anyything it could provide them with a new revenue opportunity with strong synergies.

Not sure what would be in it for AFL clubs. Plenty of other charities they can support instead rather than basketball.
