SEABL
QBL
SBL
Big V
Waratah/CABL

QBL gets the nod over the other state based leagues due to great imports and the Nth QLD teams being pretty strong.

SBL second best of the state league due to always having good imports and a large number of Wildcats suiting up.

Well, Have a look at some of the games to help answer you question.

Two top of the table clashes this Sunday the 26th April at the Waverley Basketball Stadium as the VYCM Falcons (1st) take on the Bulleen Boomers (3rd). Who will come away with bragging rights? Make it to the stadium at 12.30 pm AEST to see what the hype about Deng Adel, Kuany Kuany and the rest of the strong Falcons squad is all about. Then at 2.30 pm AEST the SCM (2nd) face off against Bullen (1st) but this time the ladder positions are reversed. Bulleen has been the surprise packet of the competition so far with the Falcon's just quietly going about their business. Will Sedale (Unguardable) Threatt, Ivan (the Destroyer) Platenik, and the rest of the team prove too much to handle, or will the Corey Standerfer led Boomers do a number on the 2 times champions.

A pitty there is not a huge tournament maybe like NCAA with teams from all the leagues. Go 64 teams, start with 4 regions

It's a real shame there is no longer a national championship with the winners of each league (including both SEABL conferences) & an 8th team playing off for a national title.

I like the idea of an NCAA 'knock out' style of championship tournament here in Australia!

But not for SEABL or Big V level teams, just for under 23's, such as the Youth League level so it is close to the US College age group...

How good would it be to promote that level of the game and what a great reward for the winning teams, men's and women's??

Also, break it down into Championship and Division 1 so we get two different levels of competition and more teams with more players, even in two states with the competition being played in different states every year!!

Anyone interested in suggesting what kind of brackets we would end up with........?

Call it the NYCA basketball tournament...

(National Youth Championship of Australia)

Of course, allow the best NZ youth teams to enter too!

@Bear most clubs use the under 23's to develop for SEABL/Big V and not overly concerned about results.

The better under 23 players are already playing SEABL/Big V in thier respective senior teams or at College so not sure you'd get much interest for a second rate event.
