Under 19 Emus set for six-game Europe tour

The Australian Emus Under 19 Men's team head to Europe, embarking on the final phase of preparations today ahead of the 2013 FIBA Under 19 World Championship in the Czech Republic.

A 12-man squad has been named for the 12-day tour that will take in the host nation and Lithuania, with the tour concluding on June 4.

Emus Head Coach Damian Cotter has named a squad brimming with quality young talent, led by star of the 2012 FIBA Under 17 World Championship, Dante Exum.

The son of former NBL import Cecil Exum is currently based in Canberra at the Basketball Australia National Centre of Excellence, along with six members of the squad.

Exum (VIC) helped Australia to the Silver Medal in the Under 17 World Championships and is joined by three other members of that team, including New South Wales trio Mirko Djeric, Nicholas Duncan and Fabijan Krslovic.

After an outstanding Under 18 National Championship, Jonah Bolden - the son of Sydney Kings legend Bruce Bolden – has been included in the squad along with fellow New South Welshmen Emmett Naar and Gerard Martin.

Victorian quartet Anthony Fisher, Felix Von Hofe, Joshua Oswald and Dane Pineau, and Western Australia young gun Keanu Pinder round out the team.

The Emus will play a three-game series against the Czech Republic, starting on Sunday May 26, with three games in three days.

There will be little rest for the squad as they travel to Lithuania for another three-game stand over three days, commencing on Thursday May 30.

The 2013 FIBA Under 19 World Championship takes place in the Czech Republic from June 27 to July 7.

Kinda reminds me of Cricket Australia nice to see one player make it from a state other than NSW or Vic, not to take away from these kids I'm sure all are at the top of their game..

Good luck
