Boomers/Emerging Boomers Sino Aus Camp

Camp is underway, and coach Lemanis put the fellas into four squads for scrimmages last night;

1: Gibson, Madgen, Odigie, Ellis, Nevill
2: Cadee, Goulding, Young, Johnson, Hadziomerovic
3: Norton, Gliddon, Bairstow, Petrie, Simmons
4: Teys, Jois, Steindl, Wagstaff, Dumovic

From the fellas twitter feeds, I believe squad 1 got the chocolates last night. That would make sense, as I would suggest that Gibson, Madgen and Nevill will all be starters vs China.

A fairly weak squad unfortunately. Simmons is the only one with a real future with the Boomers.

I think the squad is quite strong when you consider who's missing. Any successful national program needs to have strong depth, and developing that is what this camp is all about.

Not sure they'll put Simmons in just yet. This camp is more about getting him exposed to Lemanis' system right from the start, as I'm sure they'd have his name pencilled down for 2016. Plus also keeping him in shape for possibly addition to the under-19's world champs team.

Also, I think Bairstow and Jois may be the surprise packets of this group, not necessarily straight away, but in the future. Lemanis is a big fan of mobile power forwards.

Matty Dellevadova
Patty Mills
Dante Exum
Joe Ingles
Brad Newley
Ryan Broekohff
Hugh Greenwood
Anthony Drmic
Joe Ingles
David Barlow
Mark Worthington
Todd Blanchfeild
Nathan Jawai
Brock Motum
David Anderson
Aaron Baynes
Andrew Bogut

Havent bose and Kazzouh both not played for australia last year in the China games already meaning themselves in-eligible to represent anyone else?

I'm not entirely certain of the rules Daneo, but I think it is much easier to switch countries if you havent represented your original country at either an Olympic games, FIBA World Championship or FIBA Zone Championship (including junior FIBA events). In this case you would need permission from your original countries governing body (in this case Basketball Australia). Though, as Khazzouh and Bose have not played for Australia at any of the listed events, I think the swap is pretty straight forward. In all honestly, it's not like these guys are locks for the Boomers best 12, so BA most likely would agree to let them go if thats what they really wanted to do.

I dont really think Bose or Khazzouh were all that anyway. They probably should have been put in the squad but maybe they have already made there foreign allegiance known?

Yes YouknowME, they are currently ranked number 47 in the world, and recently defeated Uzbekistan to win the Central Asian Championship, which I beleive qualifies them to play at the upcoming FIBA Asia Championship.

a dud? Played well last year in the China series and just coming off a solid year in Ukraine.

Better then majority of players in the current Aus Team for this tournament.

Ukraine is hardly a top flight league. Kickert is just another Ben Allen. Hes had his chance, he can bugger off now

Kickert is WAY better than Ben Allen, thats a very poor comparison YouknowME.
