Hawks sign back-up big Harris-Tunks

The Wollongong Hawks have signed their back up big man for the 2013-14 season, 6 foot 11 Australian centre Shane Harris-Tunks.

This will be Shane's first professional contract after recently graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder. In 3 seasons he averaged 11 minutes per game, 2 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game.

Unless he's a step up from Macmillan, I'm not sure why they didn't just keep Auryn and Djeric when they had the chance?

Good luck to the lad, obviously that knee injury a while ago now was a setback. A development player with size and potential, I hope they take a keen interest, have some level of patients with him to improving his confidence and he stays healthy...

Good pick up, solid post defender and energy guy. A true post player unlike McMillan who wants to catch the ball 15ft from basket...

Interesting signing.

The big fella was a rotation player with the Buffs and has very good size. Will be good to see how he goes given a chance. Worth noting he was on a very good side in a good conference at college.

Former team mate of Nate Tomlinson who is now with the Tigers.

Good to see a local (kind of local anyway) get a run. He's got a big body & not afraid to use it so it will be interesting to see how he goes at NBL level.

The Hawks need a big body so hopefully he can adjust to the pro game. If he does and Wollongong get a SF who can rebound they are in reasonable shape, just got to hope Martin doesnt take too long to 1) get back and 2) find some form.
