Sorry to point out the obvious but to my knowledge NSW, Qld, and TAS do not have a State Basketball Centre.

Why does it matter? Aren't you better off having high quality multi-court facilities throughout the state/city than one centralized location with the word "state" in front of it?

Maybe what SA really needs is a State Sports Centre to cater for Basketball & Netball & other Indoor Sports.

That would probably be the only way the SA State Government could justify the expense by making it a multi-sport facility.

Plenty of room at Pasadena once the school gets sold off.

but on another 3 courts like Dandenong with 2 cut our stands, can run Nationals and WNBL games there.

SA, lowest spend on sports facilities per head in the country.
And when they do spend, it's on elite professional watch-don't-play facilities like Adelaide Oval.
Hockey centres, but no suburban grounds, etc.
Blame this State Government and previous ones.
Blame voters who don't insist on sports facilities - take yr pick.
This state doesn't value sport like the Vics do, it's that simple.

1. What would you call The Dome? That's a pretty good basketball facility right there.

2. HO is right, its better to have decent facilities spread around the city, so that basketballers get a fair go wherever they're from.

Dome = White elephant that isnt practical to run basketball games other than 36ers at.

Costs to much to turn on the lights and service.

Victoria's State Basketball center is one of at least 3 facilities in metro Melbourne built to that standard (and better) with 3 others not far behind it.
Victoria is also blessed with a multitude of large modern multi 4+ court venues spread across the state.

Victoria is a state where shit gets done - it has the numbers - finances and demands a constant to strive to be one of the best cities in the world.

Adelaide likes nothing better than to tall poppy and proudly fly the slow crawl to nowhere flag.

@ HO. Of course what you say is correct but theres one thing missing in Adelaide. The high quality multicourt facilities.
Two 2 court corrugated iron sheds from the 50's or early 60'2, an old warehouse with 3 courts (2 of which are too small). a skating rink with nets to stop bits of the ceiling falling on players.
Two good 3 court stadiums in town, an excellent 4 court stadium 40km out of town, an average 4 ourt stadium that leaks when it rains and a number of lights don't work.

Which ever option, either build a state basketball centre OR build new high quality facilities, South Australian basketball people would be happy!

When they were building those ridiculous unusable "halls" at schools, paying premium rates due to the fact that each school employed the builder independently that provide NO value to the community and are poorly utilized why didn't anyone think to ask the government to pool those funds and develop 2 or 3 major venues across the state instead?

I'm so glad we got rid of Labour!!!
