Warriors Men Zone

Only last week, we had a thread on here about zone being played at a Junior level.

Warriors Senior men play (majority) zone and trap. Surely by playing this type of defence for extended periods makes them suceptible to shooting teams.

What is everyone's thoughts on the zone at this level, shouldn't a zone be used only to 'mix things up,' not as the common defence for a team.

Come finals time, shooting teams like Sturt and Forestville are going to have a field day against a zone!

Look at where they are on the ladder. Perhaps every team should be playin a zone more often

There is nothing wrong with playing a trap back to a zone, it stuffs teams up and wastes time off the shot clock. Thus teams have less time to get their shooters open.

There are several ways to play a zone .. not all of them give away the outside shot.
if you extend the front of the zone you cover the outside shot while weakening you inside cover.
It all depends on what you want to achieve, with what you've got , and what the opposition has to offer.

Yeah it seems to work for them. Obviously if a team was knocking down too many shots from outside, KB would change it up. If it works, keep it going, I say...

i dont think Warriors can effectively 'change it up.' They've been in a trap and a zone all year. Which obviously has got them the wins this year, but in finals, can they maintain it?

the warriors are not one dementional. Obviously its there preferred D, just like every team has a prefered D, but if the times comes when they need to change it they can be just as successful in any D
