If LA get him, they shed Pau's contract, and with the clause in Bynum's contract if they shed him soon enough they don't have to pay Bynum a dime.
However LA want a player as well (or prob a draft pick). Whereas the Cavs don't want to give someone away for a player (Gasol) who is a FA after the season and probably won't re-sign with them.
At this point LA will need to concede if this particular trade will get done.
