Junior allstar games??

how about some north v south all star games before sixers or fellas this season

ie u12 north v south "all stars'

u14, u16 u18 u20/21 etc - boys and girls

the kids would have to buy their singlets (but that would be a good momento anway)

and play in their clubs shorts

I like it - bring it on!!

i dont like it.

Perhaps u-18's, but nothing less than that. I think we need to focus more on the development of our juniors before we start parading them around as stars.

I would like to see this allstar game from every division maybe from div1-div3 players. Where the best players from every club in those divisions play against each other. That will be an awesome game.

yes - we can go for 3 divisions or so

2 players from each club

it would easily get a few more in the door at senior games and the kids would get a kick

they are as good as they can be - anon do you not see this as a chance for development and pride?

u18s and u20/21s Div 1 only I'd think, it would be too boring/the quality would not be high enough for it to be entertaining for any lower grades.

Seniors Allstars? South Div 3 vs North Div 3? or Div 4 v Div 3 AllStars?

why not mix it up a bit - purely a pregame idea

and a bit of something different

try several grades - see what the reaction is?

definitely juniors - they would bring their families

1 player may bring 6-15 extras
20 players x up to 20 = 400 more in the door

why not some country regions as well

let's do it!

Iam sure some lower div sides will have good players. We are talkin of the best players against the best in different grades. This will be exciting even though they will not of the same grade and calibur every team will be playing for pride., Another thing if we have all the grades playing no players will feel excluded.

if it falls over - I will accept it

but I will not accept nothing being done about good ideas

someone from BASA please discuss - consider this

hows about we dont put div 2,3 and 4 people in the comp. it would be embarassing for these lower div people. make it mixed 18s and 20s. or just 18s and 20s seperate. would basically be the state teams playing however?

if it is north v south - would not be state teams - it would mix them up - at a new level

at div 1 level allow 2 players per club - that way we get an accross board interest from all clubs - not just state elite

and you would need 20 players

no voting - just the senior JDo at the club picks their 2 best -as a reward - if no players at div 1 - ie west u14 girls - they can pick their next best 2

what i am looking at is an involvement for all - not just the elite

more people in the door at senior games NBL/WNBL

something different for the kids to work towards - good for self confidence - they can put it in their basketball CV

singlets cast only thing for players - trophy cabinet $20-30

BASA pay refs $20-25 as an incentive for developing refs

offer older kids good individual seats - ie can attend pregame conference of 36ers or fellas

younger kids - offer family deal with pre booked seating - ie selected player can book 20 seats @ $15 - nana, grandad, uncle bob, brian goorjan etc etc

they will spend $10 on a coke and hot dog etc

of course the kids would love the thrill of playing on big game night at the dome or "gift shop"

we need to get this tabled

How about East Vs West and only div 1,2 and 3 players are eligible and only from under 16's and above girls and boys and the refs are nominated by that stadiums UIC (umpire in charge) and senior panel refs choose the refs.

that also sounds good - east v west

the coaches could be the highest ranked east and west div 1 coaches from the state championships

the coaches and players can put it in their cv

and it is a bit of a complement to the people involved

yeah our juniors need more games......

How can you call it an allstar game if you are giving two places per team. What if there are more than two people in one team that deserves a spot. I like the idea but if you allow all clubs to be involved, don't call it in allstar game

2 players from each div 1 side, for 16s, 18 and 20/21's boys and girls if your going to have it for a curtin raiser. otherwise it isnt that great. thats how it would have to be. but if your having a few games, clubs would change up there players to give everyone a shot. that would be good

Once again, not an ALLSTAR game. We should just let everyone play........

what the - if you are going to have these 'allstar' games, you would want the best players in the comp. These players have alot of commitments as it is.

District training 2 x week
District game friday night
Sasi Training
State Training
Any school ball
Any individuals.

Aren't our top kids getting enough as it is?

Compaired to victorian basketballers.

NO
not nearly enough

i can only speak from experience(former state junior player), and what i see from some of the more talented players at my club, but i dont think there is any more time in a week to have more ball (and a life).

Can you enlighten us on the basketball workload of our victorian couterparts?

Three Trainings a week
One rep game per week
One Domestic Game per week
SASI equivalent training
State if their good enough to make it
Extra individuals (optional)

one extra training per week and one domestic game per week.

I think most of the kids here play for their school also (game sat mon, + two after school trainings). I dont know if they go to both school trainings, as the school comp is well below district, but it still seems like they are doing equivalent.

Heaps of the "all star" juniors also have ABL committments + juniors.
2 Junior trainings
2 Mens trainings
1 Junior game
1 or 2 Mens games
Individuals
Possibly SASI, state or academy

I think thats enough
