3 number 1 draft picks in one team

Was just wondering since cleveland will have the three number ones next year. Does anyone know if that has ever happened before three guys picked number one in the draft on the same team.

Seattle in 2000/01 came close with Patrick Ewing (1st), Pervis Ellison (1st) and Gary Payton (2nd). This was from that odd period when Ewing played for Seattle and then Orlando, and Olajuwon played for Toronto.

Or Ewing, Larry Johnson and Camby (2nd).

And the Knicks at one point had Ewing (1st), Johnson (1st) and Buck Williams (3rd).

If memory serves me right, from 1987 to 1989, Los Angeles Lakers had four number one picks - Abdul-Jabbar (Alcindor), Thompson, Johnson and Worthy. They won the first two years and lost the third to the Pistons when injury struck both Johnson and Worthy in the Finals.

Also obviously this year's Heat team comes close with LeBron, Oden and Beasley (2nd).

LeBron 1st
Oden 1st
Beasley 2nd
Bosh 4th
Wade 5th
Allen 5th
Battier 5th

They were not all #1 picks, but I think it was the 97-98 Knicks who had four Rookie of the Year winners in their frontcourt: Ewing, LJ, Buck Williams & Terry Cummings.

Surely this would be the first time where all players have been drafted from the SAME team. As other examples have involved trades or free agencies!

Word around town is the Cavs are staying away from Embiid as they are scared of his lower back issues.

I think thats a good idea.

Back problems don't just go away and can be a precursor for knee issues.

When you have Parker and Wiggins there, it doesn't make sense rolling the dice.

Irving needs to go from Cleveland though.

Teams getting back to back #1 picks are rare two that I can think of Orlando 1992 and 1993.
Houston 1983 and 1984.
