Deng Adel - Durant Skills Academy

Deng Adel put in an impressive performance at the Durant Skills Academy.
ESPN nominated him as the best defensive player at the camp.

Comments Below:
"Adel turned in impressive defensive performances both against his age group and when he played against Kevin Durant. Adel wanted the task of covering Durant, and played him with strength, length and lateral quickness. Offensively, he scores with spot-up 3-pointers and straight-line attacks off the dribble with athletic finishes. This is a prospect who competes hard, plays with energy and is on the rise. Louisville appears to be the front runner for his commitment."

It's exciting to think the boomer could have a specialist 3 & D player in the near future. We currently don't really have any good defensive wings that can guard the athletic players in international competition.

I'm with Tiger Watcher, Ingles is solid on the defensive end, but not athletic enough to guard guys like Durant & company.

GWB - Deng is currently attending Victory Rock Prep High School in the US.
I would assume that would be the reason why he is not in our Junior teams.

This seems to be the new trend & at this stage appears to be very successful.
As guys like Simmons, Adel & Maker are making a good name for themselves in the US.

Will be interesting to see how Isaac Humphries goes next year with the move.

Deng Adel was a project player at Waverley. I think he played on the 5th team in U16's at Keilor and then transferred to Waverley. Played under Eric in U18's and was a training player on BIGV Mens team for a year. Then followed his coach to youth league the following year and then ripped it up with crazy speed and athleticism and he and Kuany Kuany were a tough wing unit to play. He can also play the point, but best suited to the 2-guard.

Is in the same age group as Ben Simmons, Jonah Bolden, Geremy McKay. Went to first few rounds of Vic Metro state try-outs that year but like most Waverley players, pulled out of selection. Would of made the state team for sure had wanted to play, but the team went to win gold regardless.

Also should be noted that another ex-Waverley player doing well in US is Deng Deng would after 2 years at JUCO has signed on to Baylor next year and has a chance to be a starter next year.

Scouts would love that he asked to cover Durant. Didn't someone say a while back that the dude was extremely cocky and arrogant? Calling himself King Deng or something like that. Might just of been the guy making stuff up though.

Pretty exciting that Simmons, Maker (if he reclassifies), Deng and possibly Bolden if he stays another year could all be first rounders in 2016.

Edit - The King Deng thing was on another site and may of been about another 'Deng'.
