looking at sam in u16s 10/44 and our u17 team at worlds at 19%. Vic met 23 / 95, sac 16/66.
so it looks around 20-25% return.
usa shot the 3 at 33.3% at u17 worlds.
do we need to work on this here in australia ?

All comes down to technique. We need to get them practicing quick, high release shots so they can get uncontested 3s off during games. Watch some of those USA girls shoot....... Shots gone within 1 second.
Also getting open shots may be a problem. Penetrate inside the key, draw defence, then kick outside for a 3. Easier said then done I know but just watch the European teams and USA team play. They do it soooooo well!
Agreed, problem is there is a lot of BAD technique being taught. Players getting taught crappy "cock and shoot" by "shooting gurus" all over the place.
Makes them improve quickly as juniors so it appears miracles are being worked, mediocre and uncompetitive when it counts.
Lots of girls at worlds had really poor fundamentals.

yeah you are spot on about the kick out - the spanish girls team at the u17 worlds were awesome - they had a guard that could pass sideways backhand to the 3 pt line from inside the paint
Agree anon^ it is not just the technique of the shot, it is the shot selection and how we provide the shooter with their best chance of making the shot an open one that is not always under pressure or just in a bad position.
We need to teach them how to penetrate and dish, but more and more at junior level I see sideways play with guards who penetrate always looking for the first shoot option and not with a pass first attitude.
Not only a problem with the girls either!
